Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe map coming with the booking.com reservation, suggests leaving the station on the northbound platform, walking through the car park to the end and then walking under the railway and then turning left into Station Street, and at the end turning right into Church Street (It is at this right turn you can descend the stairs from the southbound platform missing most of the walk)
Wow, Ivyleigh (and Jerry) far exceeded my expectations, absolutely everything was superb............and the breakfast selection (I dont think I have ever seen a longer list, and I do a lot of travelling)

IrelandWe had a lovely stay at Ivyleigh House. It is a beautiful house with great parking and is so close to the train station. The following morning, we had a gorgeous breakfast with homemade bread and everything you could want. We were well looked after and would definitely stay again.

IrelandBeautiful property just off the Main Street. Perfect for a quiet getaway and for wandering around town. Rooms clean , tastefully old style. It took us a while to realise the beautiful quiet of the place was augmented by a lack of tv ! Really nice! Breakfast was perfect.

I was extremely happy staying at Ivyleigh House. I stayed there for about three weeks, solo woman at age 71. My hosts, Jerry and Dinah, we’re fabulous. They were attentive and concerned that I had a great stay, offering advice and ideas of things to do when asked. Never intrusive. The house was a lovely Victorian, and my single en-suite room was a charming, cozy, and very comfortable sanctuary. The bed was comfortable, and sheets, line dried, smelled so good. Portlaoise was the perfect location, an hour west of Dublin easily accessible by car or rail. It was literally two minutes to the train station, yet very quiet. I opted to rent a car, but it really wasn’t necessary given its location; one could easily get just about anywhere in Ireland by train. The town was very welcoming and friendly and only a short one block walk to many pubs, restaurants, and shopping. I felt very comfortable walking at night. The breakfasts were delicious and served in the loveliest candlelit dining room. Each day a menu is available for the following day; you tell them what you would like and the time you want to eat. The food was all homemade, and I was awakened each day by the aroma of freshly baked bread wafting up to my room. The meals were as big as you’d like… full Irish breakfast to scrambled eggs with salmon to creamy porridge (my favorite.) Dinah’s soda bread was outstanding! The food was of the highest quality. It was easy to see why Ivyleigh House has earned so many awards, yet it was reasonably priced. The landscaping was gorgeous and the back garden was beautiful and relaxing. I would definitely encourage everyone to stay there. I know I will if I go back to Ireland. Slainte!

IrelandThe location is excellent if travelling by train, being close to the station yet still on a quieter street. There is a good selection of restaurants around. The house is an attractive older building, there is a good garden at the rear and plenty of parking. There are interesting and delicious options for breakfast.

United KingdomThere was nothing that I did not like.
I had stopped there before and chose it because I knew what to expect. The room was really spacious and spotlessly clean. A good breakfast was served and promptly. The house is only 3 - 4 minutes walk from the train station which has a good service to Dublin, Cork and Limerick.
