Paddy was a very gracious host and did all he could to make our brief stay enjoyable. The building itself is beautiful and the room was charming and spacious. The bar downstairs was a real bonus and we meet some lovely locals who were very friendly :)

Its old and dilapidated character was initially off putting, but I came to love the place and have fond memories of my stay.

If you are interested in something different and unusual, I recommend this place. It’s over 200 years old and if you’re a stickler for modern and ultra clean then this isn’t your best bet. However, if you’re interested in stepping back in time and enjoying the most authentic old Irish pub I saw anywhere and a place with old but cool ambiance, then you should go here. The owner, Paddy Guerin, is a kind and eccentric character who is loved by the locals and was a treat to meet. Enjoy a pint of Guinness or other drink of choice at his Pub during the evening of your stay. The location is close to the lovely Shannon River and to Limerick.

We had to wait a little while to all use the shared bathroom but this wasn't really an issue.

We picked the Kingfisher pub to stop off in for a night because we loved the look of the pub and we weren't disappointed! Paddy was extremely welcoming and the pub is a lovely old building, a great place to spend the evening. The room was bigger than I expected and very comfy, you could slightly hear the noise from downstairs but it is a pub after all and we really enjoyed the atmosphere.

My husband wasn't thrilled about the shared bathroom but we knew about that going in. Also we had twin beds but again it wasn't a big deal.

The host Paddy was delightful... He was exactly as l imagined him to be. He was very talkative and funny and made us feel welcomed right away. He insisted on helping us up the stairs with our luggage. There was his quaint pub right down below but he gave us our privacy and wanted us to feel at home. It was quiet and comfortable.

Property could do with some updating and a bit more cleaning perhaps. There was only one bathroon / toilet for all the rooms but overall not a bad deal.

Paddy is a wonderful chap, a good pub on the ground level with good Guinness!

Paddy, the proprietor, was amazing! A true Irish gentleman who shared with us a bit of his history and the area. . Our room was clean, the shared bathroom was spotless, and the atmosphere was great. Feel asleep to the pub sounds from downstairs :-)

Paddy is one of a kind. Such a helpfull and nice person with good stories about the history of the Kingfisher pub and Castleconnel. The fact that you have to share the bathroom weighs up to all the plusses. Rooms are clean and the beds are good. To those who like traditions and good stories we can heartly recommend The Kingfisher Lodge.

We stayed here to attend a concert in Thomond Park. Paddy was incredibly welcoming on our arrival. We had a lovely room and came home after the concert to have a lovely pint in the pub downstairs before going to bed. Top spot!

Tea making facilities were in the corridor…would be great to have them in the room, but the price reflects the facilities so we were happy with the arrangements.

Paddy is a lovely host. Room and shared bathroom was very clean. Pub downstairs very cosy.
