Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe rooms were very noisey with doors banging and people coming and going, worksite next door also very noisey. Room was stuffy in summer, could use air circulation of some sort.
Excellent location in nice part of Dublin, not much noise from street. The rooms were tidy, each bed had a curtain for privacy. Free wifi worked well and staff were helpful.

IrelandI meant to ask, but in the end I didn't: I was only staying for a short night, but there was no towel provided - I am not sure if this has changed... I do hope the option to get/'rent' a towel is there next time...
I have stayed here a few times. Location, staff, facilities are good - not so far from the top of O'Connell Street; I particularly like the large, spacious common spaces (Georgian building). I also like how there is quietness in the rooms - this is a good aspect of this hostel.

UkraineNo elevator. Quite noisy - people were just running around in the night and staff didn't control it. Lack of space for people on the upper bed - there's no table or normal chair in the room.
Nice staff, many social areas, quite clean, good location.

BelgiumThanks again Maria, for the effort and to put us together on a room. Despite the fact that we arrived late. 🌻 Everything we needed was there, also very cheap washing machines and dryers. It’s just a pity that the bicycles were not allowed to store inside. Maybe mention this more clearly the website. (There were also some other guests with the same problem) Although I do think there are possibilities enough to store a bike in the hostel or in the garden. 😉 it was big enough.

SwedenUnfortunately I was unlucky in the "non snoring lottery" this time, even when I went for a 2-bed doom. Ended up with a woman who was snoring extremely loud the last 2 of the 3 days I stayed. Not the hostel's fault, just wish people who know they are snoring could choose a different accommodation than a dorm in a hostel.
Helpful and very friendly staff. Clean room.

United Kingdom-Many rooms are up 4-5 flights of stairs ( >100 steps from the kitchen!) ...and there is NO LIFT. This can be difficult with luggage, though heavier items can be left in the ground-floor Luggage Room. -Some rooms are airy and have good floor-space, YET other rooms have more bunks (14 per room) with some morgue-syle bunks that only open at the narrow foot-end, and can feel claustrophobic ( awful in summer). -On higher floors, windows open only a little ( for safety reasons). There is NO air conditioning
Leevin Hostel is in a convenient location on one of Dublin's best-presented Georgian streets, and 5 min walk to o'Connell Street (the city's main street ). The city tram ( the "Luas") stops on nearby Parnell Street which is convenient when travelling with luggage. Staff are helpful and interested. There is a lovely, high-ceiling reception room where one can relax, read, or work on lap-top. Many rooms are reached by 4-5 flights of stairs, and there is NO lift. Rooms are clean, and each bunk has a proper mattress, with good-quality cotton linen. Only SOME rooms are en-suite, and some have more floor-space than others. There is a spacious kitchen in the basement, with microwave ovens and air-fryers provided. Several fridges, and shelves allow guests to store their provisions. There is a locked Luggage-room on ground level.

FinlandThe shower and toilet room were rather not clean and looking also not so well. The kitchen and eating room areas need a refresh so would look a bit nicer despite the being in a basement feeling and looking.
Location is rather in the center at easy reach for example if heading from the airport. Staff is nice, there is also a kitchen equipped with fridges, freezers, and cooking equipment and an eating room area.
