Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Our double room with bath was perfect for our 2 night stay, the room made great use of the space with seperate toilet and shower this and a good sized bed, TV, tea and coffee making facilities, wardrobe and in room controlled heating made our stay very comfortable. Off street parking and an easy walk into town, thank you for the biscuits.

Even though bathroom was small we were pleased to have our own facilities. A small fridge might be nice.

Pat was so lovely and accommodating. The room was clean and comfortable and it's clear that Pat has put a lot of thought and care into running the property. Couldn't recommend it more.

Bathroom and toilets a bit small and lights movement activated - sometimes came on even when not in them.
Good location and easy to get into town by car. Would be a bit far for a walk and did not look at public transport options. Nice bed and room. Tea and coffee making facilities present. Does have a mountain view. Parking at the accommodation and was free. Secure code entry and key to own apartment.

Room was immaculately clean, as was the separate toilet and shower. Bed very comfortable. Excellent parking outside. Use of the kitchen was excellent. There were basic supplies for a light breakfast, if you hadn't bought anything. Owner gave us a lift to town in the rain on the first evening, we got a taxi back.

Very comfortable room. The guests kitchen and laundry facilities was a great idea, and we appreciated the ability to prepare food for the day, and to make tea/coffee as we needed.

Instructions on how to use the combined washer/dryer.
The entire experience at Mountain View was excellent. The owner runs a very neat accommodation. The location is approx. 1 mile from Donegal center making it easy to access w/o the parking issues. There's a self service mini breakfast bar available and clothes washing/drying facilities on site. Making the accommodation a traveling insomniac's delight. The accommodation is exceptionally quiet and private.

Friendly helpful reception. Clean and high quality hallway, room, kitchen and all other areas. Professional and spacious. Private. It had a lovely feel to it. I would definitely recommend. The owner had clearly put a lot of work and thought in it.

Nothing it was 100% perfect We were travelling around and stayed in some up market hotels on the way but Mountain View was an exceptional B&B and provided everything we wanted
The location was excellent A short walk into Donegal town Very friendly helpful host Extremely clean and comfortable bed No breakfast provided but we had the full use of the kitchen which had everything we needed Would most definitely return

Extraordinary accommodation…. Pat has thought of everything, plus lovely extra little touches. Great to have access to a very well appointed little kitchen offering extras like toast, juice, milk. Best accommodation we have had so far in our trip around this beautiful country.
