Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandWe contacted the hotel the day before arriving to request not to be in a room located close to the wedding reception taking place. I asked when checking in if we had been allocated a room away from any noise but the receptionist didn't know as she was relatively new. When we returned to the room just after midnight we found out that we were over the wedding reception on the third floor. The music was very loud until after 2 a.m. The checkout time is 12 o clock. At 11.30 there was a knock on the door and it was immediately opened before anyone could say anything. This was despite the fact that there was a do-not-disturb sign on the door. The gentleman from housekeeping said that the room was marked as 'checked out' on the system. When I asked why he walked past the do-not-disturb sign he said it was a problem with reception and not his fault. When I mentioned this at check out the reception desk had no reason or response, they could not explain how the room was marked as checked out. The room itself was shabby and in need of refurbishment. The lobby area was closed off as it was under renovation. On at least 3 of the last 5 stays in Mount Errigal there has been renovations ongoing. This might make you think that the hotel is in excellent condition but this is not the case as per the state of the rooms etc. Renovations appear to take place long after they are due. Anytime there are renovations taking place the price of the room is unaffected. It took over 20 minutes to get checked in as there was only one person on reception who was dealing with someone who was checking in but also wanted to book another room in the hotel and the process took a while. I would never stay in the hotel on a Friday or Saturday night unless I was going to a wedding/function. On Saturday night the main bar was closed at 12.15 when we wanted a drink so we were directed to the residents bar which was full of wedding guests and empty tables hadn't been cleared in hours.

AustraliaI initially got given a room where the window was blocked by a wall half a meter away, so there was no proper direct sunlight making the room feel like a cell. Fortunately, the receptionist agreed that this was no good and swapped the room on request.
Good breakfast, no waits, plenty of food items (though fresh fruit would be nice to have). Dinner options at the bar were good. plenty of parking.

IrelandReception staff were great and friendly. Restaurant however was slow service for evening dinner. Would take your food order and didn’t ask us if we wanted a drink. Food was quick coming but you were left waiting for taking orders and if you did order drinks. Bare in mind this is during the week and not too busy. People beside us that came in left again as didn’t get attended to while we got a meal and staff still didn’t notice until collected their menus. This did seem a bit better on night 2.
Easy to access, good location, comfortable and good food

IrelandThe room that I stayed in was very old, especially the bathroom There was 3 pubic hairs in the shower tray The Shaver Socket was coming off the wall The toilet paper holder was coming off the wall The whole bathroom was tired and dated The duvet cover was actually on inside out We had lunch the next day there and we had to return a cup and a few knives as they were dirty

United KingdomThe bedroom was poor. In dire need of a makeover. I understand most rooms have been upgraded. This is becoming typical of using Booking.com - you get a much poorer room experience. Tempted to start booking directly in future which is a shame
The bar was really lovely and so were the staff - 10 out of 10 for these two aspects of our stay.
