How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewIt was a quaint hotel with cozy and comfortable rooms. The location was excellent for pubs and restaurants. The cold breakfast had a lot of healthy choices to begin the day with energy. The staff was kind and helpful.
Be aware there are no elevators and stairs to access the rooms. This will impact those that have mobility issues.

The room was very small, as was the bathroom. There was no room to move around. The breakfast was also very limited.

Verified reviewOk, so location of this hotel is amazing, right in the thick of Galway. It was loud as advertised by the hotel, but we were prepared for that part. Breakfast was great. Room size / situation, not so much (more below)
Ok so the room was clearly for only 1 person size wise, and should be configured and advertised as such. There is barely room to walk around the bed, and zero room to put bags / luggage etc. if the hotel configured this room for 1 person and advertised it as such I would have had no problem, but calling it a 2 person room with the space constraints, very much pushing the envelope. If they even spent the money to put a pull out / trundle bed situation in such a small room, I suppose then calling it a 2 person room would work, but as it is there is literally no space to move in these rooms with 2 people. Probably fine if you are just crashing at night, but very uncomfortable for 2 otherwise.

Verified reviewLocation was fantastic, bang in the centre of the Latin Quarter which meant we could pop back to the room to drop off shopping or pick up a jumper with no bother. The rooms are small but nicely decorated and we recieved a lot of information well in advance about accessing the hotel via narrow staircases and loud noise from the bars at night so we were well prepared for this. As it turned out, we found that by closing the window and the secondary glazing, most of the noise was significantly reduced - ear plugs were provided but we did not use them. This is not a room for spending time in but a great base for exploring a great city. Dog friendly and we were offered a dog bed and bowl when we checked in. Breakfast is continental, buffet style, all was tasty and service great. Parking was close by at Spanish arches, less than 5 min walk from the hotel.
The water in the shower did not get very hot! This could definitely be looked at considering the price of the room.
Dear Sarah, We really appreciate you taking the time to write your review and how much you enjoyed your stay. We are delighted that your doggie friend could join you too. And thank you for informing us regarding the water temp. we will most definitely check up on that. Best regards 7 Boutique Hotel.

Verified reviewHotel is very centrally located. 3 mins away from car parking
Room I had was small and so was the shower. Breakfast is good. But on the two days we were there. The receptionist was cleaning the dishes with a vengeance. So it was quite noisy and couldn't have a conversation. Carrying up my luggage.

Its a real shame you didn't say any of your issues to any of our members of staff as we could've made your stay much better. Also next time I would suggest you read a properties description as it clearly says we do not have a lift.

Verified reviewExtremely helpful staff who were able to offer solutions.
It is in the centre of a very busy and noisy pub area and one must accept this as a trade-off for location and being immersed in Galway. The hotel has excellent double glazing with both inner and outer windows in the traditional European style, so noise is reduced to a bare minimum through the windows....hence it wasn't a problem despite the hotel sensibly warning in advance of booking.

Verified reviewThe central location was fabulous, and the history of the hotel was very interesting.
Whilst the room was comfortable, as a boutique hotel space was limited which is understandable. The central location necessitating earplugs at night was unexpected, although the musical nightlife was all part of an incredible experience.
