How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewQuare Vue in Gaelic means Great View and honestly it couldn't be greater. There is a log burner fireplace which had a fire set ready for the inexperienced to drop in a firelighter and enjoy a cosy evening. I recorded over 20 different species of bird with the Merlin app. The linens were pristine. There is great history to the place and many artifacts and photographs. Seamus is very knowledgeable and willing to share the history of the farmhouse and the locality although in no way intrusive. Both he and Suzanne were very welcoming hosts.
Thank you for your generous review and for your appreciation of the efforts we make. We enjoyed having you stay with us.

Verified reviewWe had an incredible stay at this vacation rental in Ireland! Traveling with four kids can be challenging, but Suzanne and Seamus made everything so easy and enjoyable. They were the best hosts, welcoming us with open arms and providing thoughtful touches throughout our stay. The house was spacious and comfortable, with plenty of room for our family to spread out and relax. The kids absolutely loved the sheep farm nearby – it was such a unique experience for them! The hosts gave us plenty of privacy while also being available when needed, striking the perfect balance. We truly felt at home and can't wait to return! Highly recommend this place for families looking for a warm and welcoming getaway
Loved everything!

Verified reviewGreat communication from hosts with directions for arrival. Cottage really comfortable and very well set up / equipped for a self catering stay. Good base for exploring and walking in the countryside - close to Newry town for good shopping and supplies. Wonderful scenery in the area. Highly recommended.
Liked everything.
Thank you Anthony for the positive review. We were happy to host you and are delighted you enjoyed the unique features of the house and its location.

Verified reviewThe farmhouse was just fabulous, clean, comfortable and perfect for our stay. I would recommend it everyone and definitely stay again, in fact we already did!!! Only recommendation is that you drive there through Carlingford, don't follow the map directions over the mountains, small scary roads.
I can't think of a single thing.
Thank you Carol for your generous review. It was lovely to meet you and your family on your poignant trip to Ireland. We would be delighted to welcome you all again. Séamus and Suzanne

Verified reviewThe location was beautiful, the views are exceptional. We had the heating on timer and came back to a lovely, warm house each evening. We also lit the stove on a couple of evenings. We had everything we needed, towels, kitchen utensils, enough logs, turf and coal for our stay. The WIFI was brilliant for the kids and their electronics! We visited Carlingford which was only about 10 minutes drive away, Newry about 10 minutes drive. A Spring/summer trip would be fantastic, all there is to offer in Omeath, Carlingford, Newry and access to Northern Ireland via the Ferry and the good roads North. Our visit wasn't for sight seeing but it is a great base for doing so.
We have a daughter with Down Syndrome who has mobility difficulties and we worried about her with the stairs as they are very steep and narrow. She managed by crawling up and going down on her bottom and it was fine but not ideal .
Thank you Diane for your generous, positive review. Also thanks Diane and family for leaving the house spotless. We're sorry about the challenges that the stairs presented. The original house ...built 200 years ago was a single storey...the stairs were added in the 1930s and are quite steep. Thanks also for your positive comments on the location. It's a unique place, ideally located for exploring this corner of the country.

Verified reviewThe location is fantastic and warrants it name with all the beautiful scenery. It's so peaceful and tranquil you can forget about the world. The hosts have thought of everything the log burner and mini library etc but also wifi/tv if that's more your thing and they're such lovely people with so much local history knowledge and beautiful hand made quilt in the bedroom made on site by Suzanne. Really looking forward to be able to visit again 🙂
There was nothing we didn't like as such but it's easy to miss the turn off to bring you down to the property but that could just be us 🤣 and a small shelter over the table and chairs at the front would have been perfect in the wet weather, although none of this took anything away from our fantastic stay.
Thanks Michelle for your generous review. So glad that you enjoyed our unique place. Thanks also for leaving everything in good order. We are currently replacing the kitchen and looking forward to welcoming you back.
