How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Compared to other places we stayed at. The price was too high for the quality of the appt.

It’s a lot of stairs but we were ok with that!

Verified reviewGerry the property manager was kind and easy to communicate with. The location was perfect, close enough to walk but far enough away from the loud/busy/tourist spots. Property was represented well in photos, you know what you're getting. Also the pub below was excellent. Would stay again.
It did not bother us and it was not too loud, but some might not like that you can hear the metro next to the building and sometimes hear sounds from the pub below.
Thank you Nicole for staying with us and delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay .

Verified reviewLocation location location. Good size three rooms with comfortable beds. Gerry was very good as well. Told me to just leave the rubbish and he would get it
There is no kitchen which is a bit awkward but he does supply a small fridge and coffee machine, coffee, milk, glasses, cups spoons etc.

Verified reviewThis property has a great location and it would be great value if it was clean. There are 3 separate bedrooms with a total of 4 beds. There is ample storage space in the bedrooms and Gerry accommodated our earlier arrival at noon. The property is above a pub and close to a busy street and right by the train tracks. We did not experience much noise from the pub at night however the train would rattle the building at night. There is also an unpleasant smell when walking up the stairs and you need to carry your suitcases up those stairs. There is an excellent bakery/breakfast place right next door called Bread 41 - the pastries are excellent but there is usually a line in the morning so just account for that.
The place looked like it has not been cleaned for months. I went to the nearby Tesco and got paper towels and a cleaning spray. The paper towel was black after wiping off the nightstands, window sills, the dresser and tops of bed frames. The carpet was very stained and looked like it has not been vacuumed. There was no place for toiletries or to hang the towels in the bathroom. The bed sheets were clean.
Thank you for staying with us and for your review. I am delighted you appreciated our efforts to give you an early check in at 12 noon However I am disappointed you were not satisfied with the cleanliness of the suite which is not something 47 out of 48 previous reviewers had any issues with. In fact our score for cleanliness on Booking com is 9.2/10 which though not perfect, is a pretty good score so maybe with the windows open during the summer months street dust may have entered your room for which I apologise. Hopefully we will see you again in the future.

Verified reviewExcellent location, close to city center, close to Pearse train-station, bus stops, pubs, restaurants. Apartment is large, bedrooms 2+2+1. We had all what we needed. Extra towels, hair drier, iron and ironing board.. The owner - Gerry - is very gentle person, very friendly. Free coffees, water and milk as welcome package was nice. We were overall very happy and definitely we can recommend Shaw Suite apartment.
We were very happy, but It is good to know: - there is no real kitchen (small fridge, kettle and coffee machine) - no big issue for us, as around the corner is a nice place to have your breakfast or brunch. -With 5 people we were always solving where to dry towels :-( -Apartment is above the Moss Lane Pub, therefore count with some noise you will hear from the pub. But we knew it upfront and it was not that bad. - the water pressure in shower is low (ok to wash yourself, but not great when you need to wash long thick hair)
Thank you for staying with us

Verified reviewIt is a great value and good location. Over a very nice pub.
It is a bit of a climb to the third floor and on busy nights the noise from the pub can be heard, but they did quiet down by 10-11 pm
Thanks a million for staying with us, hope to see you again soon

Verified reviewGreat location! The owner left water, milk and tea which was awesome. Great place for our family. Bar below was great and so were the people. Ireland certainly makes you feel welcome!
A little noisy at night due to street noise. It didn’t bother us much.
Thank you so much for staying with us.

Verified reviewGreat location, clean, host was very accommodating, and pub below (Moss Lane) had great pasta carbonara!
There wasn’t anything to complain about other than no lift available but that can’t be changed, and is only a real issue with suitcases.
Many thanks for staying with us. and for your great review
