We are truly sorry to see such low scores, as we are a small family business and always do our very best to provide a comfortable and welcoming stay, we would just like to clarify a couple of points for future guests: In regards to our location, our accommodation is only 1km from the village of Oughterard, much closer than many other options nearby. We feel this gives a great balance of peace and convenience. We offer budget accomadation for those who wish to explore the area of Connemara and surrounding areas and consider ourselves extremely competitive with our prices considering guests have privacy, safety and a full unit to themselves as opposed to just a room in public accommodation. We provide fresh eggs from our free range chickens and sweet treats, coffee, tea and other staples. All at our own cost. Turning a profit is exceptionally difficult and we gain only the bare minimum. We do offer self-catering, self-sufficient accommodation with self-check-in. This means there is no direct interaction with staff, which many guests actually appreciate for the independence and privacy it allows. Cleanliness is something we take great pride in, and we are sorry that you found some grease in our oven, something that may have just been overlooked on this occasion. We’ve made sure this has been addressed. Our home is over 55 years old, naturally there are some age related marks. We do understand some areas do need upgrading. These things take time and money to improve and as a young family business, we do put back into the house what we can afford. We care deeply about each guest’s experience and are always looking to improve. While this review feels a little unfair, we do take your comments on board.
