Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandWe stayed here while attending a wedding at Ballintubbert House. Great location only 5/10 minutes from the wedding. Lovely breakfast provided at a cafe in the town Square as part of the stay. Great value for money.

IrelandThe room was grade 5 hotel standard, bathroom spotless and toilet spotless in the restaurant The restaurant food, lamb and chicken stir-fry we choose were excellent and a great choice for us. We would come again for the food alone Menu had a great choice. All the staff were excellent, we couldn't fault anything Our accommodation was top floor of a pub so noise was expected on a Friday night. The noise stopped about 11:50 pm like a switch was turned off and that was a night they had a party in the pub. How fantastic

United Kingdom1. The bin in the bathroom had not be emptied/cleaned and I found that disgusting. 2. Breakfast was included in the price and on arrival and after paying I was given a voucher for breakfast but at another location in the town. The problem was it didn't open until 10am and I had to leave long before that time. thankfully there were items left to make your own breakfast at the B&B 3. I did not expect to have a bar on the same level as the bedrooms and have a party start at 9pm and go on util around 12 midnight. The noise, music etc was so loud and even the room vibrated with the music. Thankfully it did stop just after midnight but as I was travelling for work - I did not appreciate this.

United KingdomI stayed on a Monday night when the bar /restaurant wasn’t open, there are other good local bars but no restaurants.
Nice location next to the canal, and short walk in to the town. The host was lovely, chatty and gave advice on where to go.

New ZealandWe had no negatives
The B & B space was well thought out, it was private and the interior decor was just stunning. The huge bed was very comfortable and the bathroom space was a good size and very functional. With limited accommodation options in Athy, we would definitely recommend this to any visitor. It was also only a short walk into town and was right on the canal with access to the walkways

United StatesWebsite said breakfast included. We were looking forward to irish breakfast. Was told upon arrival it's only continental...but, staff and owner were able to coordinate breakfast at the Cafe down the street...turned out grand!!
Special occasion room is across the hall and you are above a bar...not recommended for weekends. Other than that...staff was grand, rooms were clean and we "worked out" the breakfast situation? Restaurant was an easy 8 out of ten...plus central location to the entire south east

GreeceWe weren’t informed that one out of the two nights that we spent there, and on st patricks day, there wouldn’t be breakfast at all, and the “continental diy breakfast” didn’t cover for that. There was a party going on just outside of our door and nobody told us about, so we could delay our rest, but we went downstairs to the pub and had a beer, even though we were dead tired. As a hospitality professional myself, I would suggest 2 things: Inform your guests about the ongoing events Just offer them a beer or a discount if there are parties on the upper level of the pub. The stuff was extremely polite, I dont get the reason why nobody told us about the party. The food was excellent (besides the strange breakfast policy)
The room was cozy and clean, had coffee and snacks

IrelandThat I didn't book for a 2nd night haha. Seriously I would have absolutely loved to have had another night in this little gem of a place
From the moment I walked in I was greeted with a warm welcome. Early check-in was granted without even requesting it. Room is fab. I loved it. Biggest bed ever and as comfortable as ever...fab décor throughout the room...everywhere was spotless clean. All the trimmings...refreshments...hairdryer...hot water bottle...plenty of lotions n potions....soft towels....plush carpeting...power shower. What more could you ask for There was a perfect view of the canal and right beside local ameneties. After Checking in I took a long walk around the town and along the beautiful canal and arrived back to my room where Leanne put on a blazing hot fire and set me up to chill n relax with the tv for “me time”. The staycation just Kept getting better. As I sat in the communal TV area I could hear the restaurant staff communicating to the chef handing over orders with such precision n professionalism that they were catering for their diners “every need” with personal preferences on each table order being catered for. The teamwork works! The banter in the background is also quite charming and at times has me giggling. A late checkout was granted free of charge. The staff here are truly amazing and the Vibe in the Bar downstairs is brilliant. Definitely will return to this little gem in Athy.

IrelandI was freezing cold at certain times. I had to use my coat on top of the blanket. The pillows were too big and firm. A choice of a feather pillow would have been great. If the customer had control of the heat it would have been better as sometimes it was too hot but it wasn't consistent. Two men were having a business meeting outside my bedroom in the morning making it impossible to sleep or relax The area outside the bedrooms which I was told was for breakfast and guests wasn't really. Staff were using it. It was cold and the nice fire decor was never on.
The staff were very nice
