How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Check in was via a kiosk and was extremely impersonal. It felt like a hostel. There was no physical staff on the premise. The room had no TV which was not mentioned when booking! The room was tiny and absolutely freezing! I escalated this to staff multiple times via the mobile number given on the booking and they stated the nearest maintenance person lived 40 mins away. I informed them we had a toddler traveling with us and needed it sorted asap. I was assured a staff member arrived and fixed the heating but this was not the case. The thermostat remained broken. I informed the staff via the number provided that the issues was ongoing and I was informed maintenance will have to sort it the following day. Atrocious customer service and absolutely not worth the price we paid.

Verified reviewCentral location in street with good pubs and restaurants. Clean & modern rooms. Friendly staff. Great for road trip visiting Wild Atlantic Way.
Check in machine at hotel was a bit slow and complicated. Although I knew the room would be fairly small it was quite tight to manoeuvre round. No lift for heavier bags.

I don’t like self check in and out without human interaction. Felt like hostel but was basically modernised. Walls think could hear everything including outside noise. No air conditioning had to leave window open unfortunately big noise outside people getting sick and bottles being disposed after bars closing. Mattress was soft and uncomfortable.

We are currently putting measures in place to upgrade the sound proofing throughout the hotel and will be completed in the coming months. During your stay, Galway has experienced very warm unseasonal weather and as our building is a protective structure, we can not add air conditioning but have now sourced desktop fans for all rooms. As for peoples conduct on the street, this is unfortunately out of our control, but not the norm for the lovely town of Clifden. We truly value your input and appreciate you taking the time to leave your review.

We’re pleased to hear that you appreciated the thoughtful touch of tea/coffee, water and biscuits in your room — it’s good to know those small details made a positive impression on you. We also appreciate your feedback regarding the check-in process, we do advertise this in our hotel description for guests to be aware of before they book. Our hotel is a protected structure and when refurbished, adding air conditioning was not permitted. A room temperature of 27°C is certainly not ideal, however Galway was experiencing very unseasonal hot weather at the time of your stay, it's not the norm unfortunately for us in Ireland. Our building’s design limits our ability to add a lift, again this and that we do not have a TV in the room is all in our hotel description for guests to read before they book. Very central location, however, shower gel and hand wash ran out and not replaced on second night...also not enough toilet roll ; no staff around and no one to ask to any assistance. Could hear every word and every noise 😲from neighbouring rooms!

Verified reviewGreat location. It was very clean. Our room was fronted to The Square. It was quiet at night generally. Room was really clean and lovely shower. Heating system was reliable and easy to use. Alexandra and the other staff we met were all very friendly. You have to bring ID with you to check in.
If you need help with luggage, best to check what room you are in as no lift/elevator.

Verified reviewIt was a modern, clean, and very comfortable room, very conveniently located in the middle of Clifden. Street parking is available, but may be a challenge during busier times of day - I arrived in the evening and had no trouble finding a free spot though. There is no staff on site, but the check-in process was very clear, quick, and straight forward on a digital check-in kiosk. Everything was great! I would stay here again or recommend it, especially for solo travellers, or for people who are busy outdoors all day long.

There was no TV and the room was warm and the quilt was too heavy for the summer.

We are experiencing very unseasonal weather at the moment with these high temperatures but no better place than Connemara with its stunning beaches to enjoy.
