Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandWhile we enjoyed our stay and the food was reasonable, the overall cost was expensive. Room, dinner & breakfast all charged separately. No concession given to guests staying overnight.
The decor in the accommodation part was very tasteful. Enjoyed the Voya products. The location was excellent.

AustraliaLoved everything about this stay - the size of the room and the beautiful little touches everywhere! A great shower too! It's in a quiet location with a lovely walk nearby and not far from the town.

The Driftwood is a heavenly place with lovely decorated rooms, the most comfortable beds and a stunning view. We had great breakfasts and tasty dinners in the restaurant, accompanied by a nice wine selection. All the people working there were super friendly. We will defenitely have another stayover in the Driftwood.

IrelandThe room got quite warm during the night ( it was an unseasonably warm day) We opened the skylight in the bathroom and it cooled the room. The bed was very firm. The lovely Voya products in the shower were difficult to use as they didn't fit the holders properly
Beautiful boutique rooms, good amenities. Just upstairs from an excellent restaurant. Friendly staff.

BelgiumThe Driftwood is situated in a beautiful area just opposite the water (coast). The hotel is tastefully decorated and the room large and comfortable. We had both dinner and breakfast in the restaurant, and both were very tasty and good value for money.

AustraliaParking area was full when we arrived. Had to wait until some dinner guests left to get a carpark outside for the night. It wasn’t a real problem as we just had a small overnight case.
Room was beautifully presented. Breakfast very nice.

Even before we arrived I was happy with The Driftwood. Staff were very understanding when a flight delay meant we would not be able to arrive until almost midnight. On arrival we were welcomed without a fuss. Rooms were great, and the next morning brought great views and a good choice of breakfast with good coffee.

FranceShower blocked. There was a kitchen unit but no crockery or cutlery? Just note, there's no lift so we had to lug our cases up 2 flights of stairs.

United StatesIt seems to me that on a busy bank holiday weekend, The Driftwood should have extra staff on board. Servers in the restaurant were also doing check in and check out for the hotel guests. There were times with only one server and no one working the front desk. Given the relatively high prices for the Sligo area, the hotel and restaurant need additional staff on board.
The room was nicely furnished and very comfortable. Breakfast was not included, but the restaurant opens somewhat early. There are not a lot of options for meals in Rosses Point, and The Driftwood's restaurant and bar really provide a nice service in this family beach area.

United KingdomSorry, but we were underwhelmed with breakfast. Please change the sausages you use!! No offer of fruit juice, sauces or preserves, and no options given for how the eggs are to be cooked. Room 8 is lovely and very well appointed, but on what were unusually hot days, and being at the very top of the building (stairs to negotiate), it was unbearably warm. Opening the windows didn't help as the kitchen extractor fan is directly below, which also filled the room with smells of food being cooked.
Fantastic location, and a great vibe in the restaurant on the nights we ate there. Excellent choice of food in the evening, and it was delicious. Most members of staff were friendly and helpful. The bed was a dream, soooooo comfortable; and the kitchen facility was very handy. Luxurious towels and toiletries. Good parking provision in front of the building. We would love to return.
