How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe location was very central but the disco, party and nightclub noise was horrendous. Lots of people on the streets till after 2 am. Just wished for the rain to clear the streets of footballer type chanting together.
Double/ triple glazing. When we arrived there were earplugs on our pillow rather than a chocolate!

Verified reviewThe location in terms of being in the center of the city of Cork was great. Had an excellent fresh fish restaurant across the street (which is closed to traffic). Walkable from the train station and the back to the bus station. No breakfast at the Exchange but Lab 82 near the train station was excellent!
The noisy aspect of the stay came from a building on the next block, also upstairs that played "dance music" with mostly very loud drumming! Stopped around midnight. Up until 9 pm it was quiet and pleasant in the room. The complimentary ear plugs were appreciated. It is a bit tricky to find the actual entrance and you must wait for an email to explain how to access the unit. Once in all was okay.

The walls could be painted to cover staining and scrapes. It made the bathroom feel dirty.

Verified reviewThe bed was very comfortable
There was a horrible damp mouldy smell from the bathroom that spread into the bedroom, I couldn't sleep with the smell and couldn't face having a shower with the smell. There was no lift so going up to the 3rd floor was hard with a suitcase. The arrangement was a little weird, you had to look up booking.com for a message to give you a video to get the keys to get in, the entrance door was v dusty grimy which coupled with this strange arrangement was concerning initially, however I was happy with the bedroom generally and there was a kettle and coffee which was great. It was in a v loud street so they also provided ear plugs which was good too. I liked the old furniture and wooden floor. The bed was the best but as it was very comfortable.

Verified reviewThe pros are that this property is in Cork City Centre and its available at a reasonable price. I arrived a little earlier than the check in time of 3pm and luckily the key was ready for collection and I could access my room, the owner was responsive in the chat and very friendly when I had questions. The bed was fine and my room had a nice view of the street below. Also I liked the old look of the building, felt very historical. Now if you are in Cork for the nightlife this might be a pro in that they have live music playing in the bar outside. I was there for a Thursday night so it played until about 10.30 and then switched over to Rave/Dance music which went on until about 1 or 2am. I not then see my negatives below;
So it started out great, I checked in and then went off to a work event. Things started going amiss when I returned that evening. Firstly it was pitch dark with no lights on when I returned so going to my room was a bit like walking through a haunted house lol. So if you are there for work or just coming back to relax for the evening this might be a huge negative but there's load music playing outside all night until about 1 or 2am. The owner does leave some earplugs on the bed so if a heavy sleeper or don't mind sitting up late then you'll be ok. I went to have a shower and it looked fairly new and modern but after 30 seconds I saw the water wasn't draining away so I had to be very quick otherwise it was going to overflow onto the floor. Assuming that is fixed then shower was fine with ok pressure. Took some time to get the temperature right, controls were fairly fiddly.

Verified reviewIts right in the centre of Cork. Location is the best thing.
Everything else is below average. Its is very very dated and old furniture. The bed is not very comfortable or even long. My feet were rubbing the bottom board It could do with a refresh.
