Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesUnfortunately, our room had a very strong dog odor. We both love our dogs but wished the cleaning staff had taken extra care to remove the odor. No one wants to spend a night sniffing someone else’s wet dog! Also, the staff should inquire if one is allergic to animals before randomly assigning a room that allows animals. I had reserved a falconry session in early March for our August visit. The hotel had to cancel in June due to unforeseen circumstances with the falconer. Of course we understood but asked if anything changed to please let us know. We were assured that we would be notified. We were so excited by that offering! A week before our reservation, we received a marketing email from the Castle promoting falconry. I immediately emailed to see what times were available. We were told the services were already fully booked. That was a disappointment and for a hotel of this caliber, we expect more from customer services. If you book something at the Castle, double- and triple-check your reservation and availability!
The Castle is an easy drive from Dublin and is beautiful. It is a full service hotel owned by an American company (Cashmans) and has two lovely restaurants (one casual in the club house and one for romantic dinners on the second floor of the castle), a spa, golf course and exquisite grounds. We visited in August and everything was in full bloom. Props to the landscape team! Of note is the human-sized chess board and secret sitting areas tucked away where one can sit, enjoy a glass of wine under a willow tree by a babbling brook. We stayed at the Lodge. The room was nice. We voted this castle as having the best bed and pillows of our two week trip! Although the bathroom is not large, it is well appointed. Toiletries are Elemis Relax and Rejuvenate and the towels are fluffy. It is nice couples escape. Overall, the staff was polite, and special recognition to the bartender and breakfast staff. The young man greeting new guests when entering the castle was also polite and pleasureable. Spa prices appeared reasonable and the product offerings were good. The breakfast was outstanding. We had scrambled eggs with Salmon and avocado toast. If you dine at the clubhouse, save room for dessert!

United StatesApparently the trails leaving the driving range to the picnic area has had its share of issues with a property owner he has motion sensors set up that will spray the trail and if ur not paying attention you will get hit with one or the other, i noticed the entry ways to our room wasn’t structurally sound i guess you would say the rooms didnt have any ac which i know now ac is not a common thing there in Ireland the wife and i were sweating throughout the night waking up ending up ontop of the covers
The property was great we had a very good time there wife had a spa day we walked the gardens the bartender was hilarious and kept us entertained till we went to bed gorgeous entrance to the hotel

United StatesThe steak. This can be fixed; but none of us has had such a horrible steak that was all grizzle. Such a disappointment for the 5 of us who had steak.
The elegance of a castle with the most kind and friendly staff made the stay a huge memorable treat for our family! There was a wedding party; the staff didn’t over look us! They were still attentive though the volume took over the bar.

CanadaBedroom was a bit hot. Larger fan required for sleeping! A little expensive for breakfast in the Drawing Room but very beautiful.
Stunning castle with gorgeous grounds. Historical cemetery with a pet cemetery! Excellent bar called The Keep with a lovely outdoor sitting area and indoor lounge with wood fireplace. The dining staff in the clubhouse restaurant were very nice.

United StatesI do wish there was a stronger fan or standing fan in the room. Even with the windows open and the small fan running, the room got pretty stuffy and hot.
The grounds are beautiful and so is the castle. The bartender, Glenn, told us ghost stories and really entertained us in the evening which really made it a fun stay.

CanadaHaving to leave. Honestly this is the best hospitality experience I have had in 4 years.
Superb attention to detail, made us feel special and personally appreciated, despite the castle being full. All the touch points were elegant and comfortable. The spa was delightful and a perfect way to end a two week honeymoon. Wish I golfed!
