The room and bathroom was too small- could not swing a cat in there. Drainage of vanity also poor. No room to put the kettle . No milk. A little basic.

The ambience of the pub, the friendly staff, the food - dinner and breakfast and the music performed by the local people.

Big green exit sign in the room that kept me up all night

It was very fun location and beautiful surroundings. There was a BIG green exit Sign in the room that could not be turned off and that made it really hard to sleep. Other than that it was good. Food was ok..

the rooms, although clean, are very small and above all very far from the description given on the various sites presenting the Rusty Macherel. It's a big disappointment

The meals and music in the pub are good

My husband and I arrived at The Rusty Mackerel and were greeted by a friendly girl. We stayed in one of the pods. It was a little small, but, it had everything you needed and was spotless. We ate and couldn't fault the food. The music and atmosphere 6 brilliant. Staff were friendy and helpful. Will definitely be back and highly recommend 👌

We wanted to love the Rusty Mackerel, but they need to fix the leak and smell in the bathroom.

The bathroom smelled awful! We were put in the handicapped room and because the shower was open and had no stall or curtain, the water goes everywhere. It must have been leaking into the floor from the start, as the room smelled bad and stunk of mold. We had to keep the door shut at all times.

We loved the beautiful area, locals and the ambience of the bar. Old and eclectic, great to sit and look at the view with a drink... it was what we were looking for. Comfortable and clean new style modular rooms.

Rooms were units around the back but flashing light on smoke detector directly above bed annoying.

Great characterful place which was very busy with great atmosphere. Food was good if service a little disorganised. Modern rooms with good fittings.

Not much to do besides stay at hotel - the viewpoint for the cliffs just past hotel charges 10 Euro to park and walk to cliffs. Rooms were VERY SMALL but clean - same with bathroom and shower.

Breakfast was great, location remote. Loved the pub music and good mix of tourists from all over the world.

Pods are a tad small, but ok for a few nights.

Great breakfast. Fabulous chowder. Perfect pint of Guinness. Utterly sublime location, so romantic. Lovely to arrive to a blazing turf fire on a chilly, damp August afternoon. Full of very happy people, both customers & staff. And relaxed pampered pooches, who receive a very warm welcome.

Unfortunately the room we were allocated had problems with a bad drain smell which was very unpleasant. Couldn’t adjust the air conditioning either so the room got too hot despite the temperature outside not being overly warm.

Loved the location. The staff were very efficient and friendly.

I thought the nightly rate was expensive for a small room without a window. There wasn't enough space to put a suitcase on the floor without it being in the way.

The room was comfortable but small with no window, except for a skylight. The pub itself was warm and inviting. It was very convenient for walking the Slieve League cliffs.

No TV in the room. We tried to ring the day before to book for the evening meal and were told a reservation wasn't needed. Then when we arrived they were very busy for food and told us that we should have made a booking!

Very close to Sliabh Liag cliffs. Large car park. Good food and breakfast. Live music most nights, including a traditional session on the Sunday night we were there. Room was clean and comfortable, with a great shower.

There are no windows apart from velux in the roof which had a temperamental remote control. As someone who sleeps with window open i found it uncomfortably warm during the night

Great place for a stopover. Plenty of choice for breakfast. Comfortable bed.

The bunk beds. Avoid rooms 9 to 12. Our bed was squeaking if you just sat on it. If you turn in bed the noise would have woken the neighbours even. We slept on the floor! The room didn't have a proper window, just a sky light that didn't open. As it were hot days the room was a bit stuffy, and if you wanted to open the door to get fresh air you got the smell of the fry from the kitchen.

Some of the dishes were excellent , the atmosphere in the pub was great, the staff was nice and helpful. The location was very good with walking distances both to the pier and Sliabh Liag walk. And you could get lifts with The Rusty Mackarel bus, very good service!
