How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewSpotless accommodation, decorated to a high standard. The host met us and took us through the property and how it worked, they also left us a great welcome pack. The place is literally 25 yards from 2 great pubs.
The only thing missing is a shower, there is a mixer tap but the bath is inside the bedroom and it is impossible for water to not get into the bedroom floor.

Verified reviewVery comfortable little cottage with lovely helpful host. Great place to unwind for a couple of days. Pleasant local walk to the Friary which has a little cafe.
Be aware that advert describes two different cottages.....the smaller one does not have a washing machine even though it appears to say it has. Local pubs are not always open. Don't rely on being able to eat out locally in the evening.
Unfortunate, you found the Cottage description misleading……apologies. It’s a quiet quaint village but very alive from Thursday onwards like most rural Irish villages these days. We welcome you back anytime to enjoy a revised experience. Warm regards Aisling

Verified reviewMultyfarnham is a beautiful little village in the heart of Westmeath. The Stone House is just off the main street, opposite a lovely little pub which serves great food. There is private free parking right beside the front door. Our host had provided everything from welcoming food and drinks on our arrival, books, local information, lots of towels and storage space and everything else we might need. There is a free standing bath in the attic bedroom, the decor is beautiful throughout and we felt completely spoilt.

Verified reviewWhat a gem. Cottage is cosy, comfy, everything you need for a romantic, relaxation stay. Aisling was the perfect host. From the fire to the romantic bath, lighting, candles, highly recommend. Location is great. Weirs pub across the road perfect for food, stunning walks.
Previous reviews said no shower. There is no shower but what better than a long soak in a beautiful bath. This cottage is all about relaxation.
Thank you Ryan for the beautiful feedback, just happy you enjoyed your stay and had a truly relaxing time. Pleasure having you😎

Verified reviewBeautiful cottage located centrally within the village and a fantastic base for visiting the wider area. The host was very welcoming and friendly and the accommodation is so comfortable, cosy and relaxing. All modern comforts within a beautifully restored cottage providing everything you’d need for a few days’ stay.
There isn’t a separate shower but there is a shower head provided within the bath - perfectly fine once you get used to it

Verified reviewExcellent location in the centre of the village with pub/restaurant directly across the road
It is easy to see that the owner did a fantastic job renovating this property but unforunately could not fit a shower in due to the ceiling shape. The a free standing bath located in the bedroom wasn't very convenient for washing and we struggled not to splash the floor when using the shower head. Overall a fantastic little find. P.s beware the eircode that booking.com supply is not correct, check directly with the owner before arrival for the correct code.

Verified reviewVery cute stone house opposite the most wonderful bar and restaurant (Weirs - we highly recommend it for dinner). The house is well stocked with everything you could need for a comfortable stay and communication from our host Aisling was very good
If you have vision or mobility issues this may not be the place for you, the stairs to the bedroom and bathroom are very steep with no railing to hold onto

Verified reviewThe house is beautifully decorated with loads of space and has private parking. It is also across the road from Weirs for lovely food and music and singing.

"The cottage exuded a wonderfully warm and relaxing atmosphere. The fireplace, prepped and ready, promised cozy evenings. The bedroom was a tranquil retreat, but what truly stood out was the bathroom. The luxurious bathtub, positioned centrally within the bedroom itself, created a unique and indulgent bathing experience. It was a striking feature that added a touch of unexpected luxury. Thoughtful touches, like soft ambient lighting, contributed to the overall feeling of comfort and relaxation. It was a truly memorable and restorative escape."
