How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewAn extraordinary hotel with heritage rooms, letting you dive deep in history. Coupled to an excellent restaurant and just a few 100 metres from the Damascus gate into Old Jerusalem...makes of this hotel a fabulous opportunity to soak in the rich diversity of Jerusalem while staying in full comfort. The manager/owner is a very engaged and inspiring person who will share his rich insights into the community, its traditions and culture.
Nothing. I score the hotel 11/10.

Verified reviewBeautiful family-owned property with wonderfully decorated rooms. Amenities were plenty. On site Garden Restaurant has exceptional food and drinks (you won’t want to go elsewhere). Location is minutes from the Damascus Gate— an excellent location to explore the Old City. More than that, the owners and staff are the kindest people you will ever meet. They kept us safe and comfortable during the initial days of the Iran-Israel war. Definitely worth returning to.
Nothing.
It was a pleasure welcoming you and your family at our hotel. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay. Hope we see you guys again.

Verified reviewExcellent location right north of the Damascus house. Free parking included! The house is a beautiful old place but it has all the modern amenities. Run by a nice family. The breakfast was also good and the restaurant served one of the best meals (traditional food) we had in Israel. Highly recommended.

Verified reviewThis place was absolutely the best. The owners and their daughter in law were the nicest people. The food was EXCELLENT!! We had dinner there twice while in Jerusalem. The breakfast was perfect. We had 2 tours that left early in the morning causing us to miss breakfast. We let the host know the night before and they prepared a to go bag of breakfast for us to take with us. We will stay here every time we are in Jerusalem.
We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay and had a good experience, thank you for your kind words, it was a pleasure having you all, and we hope we see you again

Verified reviewThe rooms were impeccable, the service was excellent, the lobby area quickly became my fav place to hang out in east jerusalem, everyone felt like one big family. And it’s a 5 minute walk from the old city and the bus stop. Can’t recommend this place enough. Will be staying here again next time I’m in town

Verified reviewYou are always welcome. We try our best to stay afloat especially in the world of technology so that people can find us easily. Our location is very convenient for travelers. We are only 3 minutes walk from Damascus gate providing guests with a haven away from the bustling narrow streets of the Old city while providing close proximity to public transportation and many of the historic and religious sites in the city. We would like to say that google maps does not find us easily if you are driving. we recommend people to use WAZE instead

Verified reviewThe hotel staff is very helpful. The restaurant in the hotel was reasonably priced with excellent meals. While the room I had was not very big, it was comfortable. I would definitely go back there the next time I tour Jerusalem.

Verified reviewAbsolutely EVERYTHING went SUPER WELL. Location, room and breakfast were excellent. Aya, the young woman, manager at the restaurant is a GEM, she made breakfast time a fantastic experience beyond the food. The owner of the hotel was very personable, kind, wonderful! He responded immediately to our requests and questions. We felt very cared for. It was a pleasure to stay at Jerusalem Hotel.

Verified reviewWe loved the old-world charm, the Palestinian cultural touches, the great breakfast and the restaurant. We decided we could easily eat there every night, and we just might do that on a future visit! The staff was very helpful and kind at all times. This is definitely a place we would stay again. We chose it due to the character and the location near the Garden Tomb and the Old City, but it has even more than that going for it. If you're looking for a comfortable hotel with a decent price and good local food with welcoming staff, this is a great choice.
The inner hallways/seating areas and stairwell were a little bit cluttered, but that didn't detract so much from our overall opinion.
Thank you Tricia for your kind and much appreciated review. Your kind words are heartfelt and we are glad you enjoyed your stay with us. In a historic place like ours things kind of accumulate with little place to go. This often provide the space with coziness and more items to inspect as well as more stories to tell. Thank you again and all the best

Thank you for your review and for your constructive comment. We do have a basic breakfast everyday, but our cook is present to provide your favorite breakfast.
