How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe staff were very friendly, and the location was fanatic. I chose this place because it is close to most of the historical locations in Jerusalem and because it has a low price point that I wanted. I was very satified.
The floors could probably have been cleaned more often, but wearing house shoes also solved this issue mostly.

Verified reviewLocation very good to old city and Damascus Gate
Room was tiny. Feet hit the end wall of the bed. No window. A/C kept being turned off so there was no air in the room. Bathroom tiny with uncovered drain pipe.

Verified reviewLocation, location, location This place has the perfect location if you are coming to Jerusalem to visit the Old City, just a 5 minutes walking distance to the Western Wall, 3 minutes to the Garden Tomb, across Damascus Gate. I walked all over Jerusalem day and night , very very convenient. Two minutes to the light train, buses to Bethlehem and other places just across the street. Restaurant, Groceries store, Western Union, Bakery, fruits , everything just on the street. You can take the light train from Jerusalem Central Station. Taxis just right there They also provide coffee, a microwave and a refrigerator so guests can use it, good Wi Fi. The bed was comfortable.
Depending on the bedroom, in summer time, please make sure you book a bedroom with AC, sometimes it doesn't say when you book, and will be awful without. Also make sure if you are booking just a bed in a shared room , that will be without AC and sharing the bedroom with 6 or 7 more people each in a bunk bed and shared bathroom if that is what you want or can afford, it is okay, if the price is too good to be true, it will be probably a bunk bed The bathrooms are very very small, and not very clean at least the one where I stayed, but have hot water and good water pressure. There can be a little noise depending on the room you stay in.

Verified reviewThere was nothing to like....
the Hostel promised us to provide a private room at first but they gave us the room that had dormitory and bunk beds. We had to pay more 200 shekels to upgrade our stay to the private rooms. To increase our disappointment furthermore the private room was very small and smelly. There was a very congested bathroom with a very little space for the body to move around. The noises from the streets would be heard loud and clear. We had a very disruptive sleep. Moreover the staffs and receptionist were really bad.

Verified reviewThe staff was helpful and nice. The facility looked fine from the inside, and I don't know why people rated it so bad. It is right across the street from the Damascus gate. It is near a tram that takes you to the train station. I will go back there if I go to Jerusalem. I consider it a top place to stay. You can get a shared cab from the Ben Gurian airport right to the door for only $20.
The outside looks terrible but is beside a restaurant with healthy and cheap food. The facilities are nice, but the Victorian couches would look prettier if steam cleaned. The bunk bed is wrought iron and looks fine, but I covered my headboard with a blanket because it would be dangerous if I hit my head on it.

Verified reviewIt’s location
I booked a single room and it was about the size of a cupboard with very poor bathroom facilities. The bed was comfortable but poor supply of linen . No top sheet and one thin cover .they were horrified when I asked for extra blankets . Not even a towel supplied. Tourism is down and I know this makes running a business stressful . But with so few guests staying it would have made good sense to offer me a room upgrade , generally improve the service and then get a better review to encourage others to stay . I had asked for a quiet room but a closed window near the lobby allowed the noise of a staff member watching a movie and cigarette smoke to permeate my room . They did respond to my request to turn off the appliance as it was 11.30 pm .

Verified reviewThe location was perfect, it was right outside Damascus gate so getting the masjid was very quick and easy. There is also a lot of food stalls and restaurants on the door step which was very convenient. The staff were helpful and nice. I was there for the last 10 days of Ramadan so I spent most of my time in the masjid.
The bedroom itself was fine but the bathrooms could have been cleaner. I had no hot water for the duration of the stay which was 11 days. I was moved to another room but the water was still cold. The sink was very small and the shelf above was too low which meant you would hit your head on it you bent down to wash your face. It was hard to manoeuvre not hitting your head on the shelf and also trying to get the water in the sink.

Verified reviewLocation, very close to Damascus gate. Staff was quite nice and recommended good places
It's about Israeli prices, not maybe this accomodation it self, but the prices are super high for what you receive.
