Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNote that the pictures are from the renovated side of the hotel. Unfortunately we did not get that side. The rooms we got were fair and definitely needed renovating. Dinner was extra and was ok, but not worth the price.
Location is great. Breakfast was good.

South AfricaThe location was amazing and the hotel is beautiful. Our first room was in a filthy basement /downstairs area but luckily they couldn’t get the door to open. We were moved to a lovely clean part of the hotel.

IsraelThe room was a little dusty. The bars on the window block out the spectacular view which is a great pity. It would be great if the hotel had an outdoor sitting area to enjoy the beautiful Jerusalem night air.
The location is amazing, in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City. The room was beautiful, especially the ceiling and the two comfortable chairs to sit in near the window. The lobby lounge is wonderfully furnished and very comfortable.

United KingdomPettiness. We had booked for several nights over Shabbat and were taking all meals in the hotel. We asked that - with one child whose eating is highly constrained by allergies and another who doesn't eat much - we pay for one meal only between them. Their stubborn refusal meant that 250 shekels paid for half a bowl of very expensive soup, and another 250 shekels paid for a small portion of very expensive couscous with a piece of the parent's salmon. We were then denied entry to breakfast even though we had paid for it due to an apparent administrative error. (This may have been compensated by being allowed to join for seudah shlishit, although it wasn't clear if we were anyway entitled to that or not...)
It will always be a gem of a hotel in an amazing location, a beautiful building and ornate style, with rich history and a unique ambience. Serves excellent food in a lovely courtyard. We will never stop loving this hotel.

The Sephardic House truly is a hidden gem in the city walls . If you are a proper person with manners this is the place for you . The deluxe room is like a private place in a castle . When I first sat on the bed I said oh no I won’t be able to sleep because the mattress was too firm , I slept like a baby . The shower is scorching hot , the place is extremely clean . The breakfast is great the coffee was even better !!! The staff could definitely use some training but you can’t have it all . The location is unreal !! Just unreal my whole experience I would rate this place a 10 !

United StatesYou will not find a better location in the Old City than this. Located in the beautiful Jewish Quarter, everything is within easy walking distance. The breakfast was superb with a nice variety of items. Thanks to Chef for specially making me a spicy omelette every morning. Our room was lovely with a feel for the history of the city and a spectacular view. The bed was very comfortable. Many thanks to Josephine, Andre, Sahag, Amani, and so many others that made our visit pleasant during a very difficult time in Israel. I would have been happy to stay longer and hope to once again stay with the fantastic staff at the Sephardic House.

AustraliaWe arrived on the sabbath and no taxis or cars could drive us to the hotel. We had to drag our luggage over cobblestone from Jaffa gate which was quite the struggle. Then we couldn’t find the entrance. It’s up the small steps just to the side of the building. There isn’t an iron in the room, I had to take all my ironing down to an ironing room which was rather underwhelming.
The location was excellent. Minutes from the western wall, and places to eat were just a short walk away. There are two sections of the hotel. Our room was standard, still a good size and comfortable however, if you can afford it, go the upgrade. The rooms were much larger and well worth the price.

AustraliaThe staff don’t speak much English so it was hard to make ourselves understood at times. And the price was not cheap.
Great location right in the heart of the Jewish quarter and not far from most key attractions. The hotel itself is beautifully presented - exposed limestone walls, very quiet, clean and comfortable. We stayed in a room with a view towards the Mount of Olives. The room itself was spacious, well appointed and cleaned every day. The breakfast was a feast every morning - with a selection of hot and cold foods (both western and Jewish).
