Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

IndiaHot water was not available for 24 hours and the flow of the water and continuity of temperature was uneven which made it difficult to sustain inside the bathroom in the cold climate.
The heritage nature of the property and its relics are well preserved and upkept.

IndiaThe management can work on the aesthetics to enhance the majesty of the place.
Wonderful property to have the heritage experience. But, as the place is secluded and is quite old, it gives out a scary vibe. The staff is exceptionally friendly. Great hospitality.

IndiaThe linen should be white, not printed. The upholstery needs to be refurbished. Indian Breakfast not good.
The view of Kanchanjangha from the terrace was just awesome. The approach road to property is not good, but the sprawling gardens are good. Very large rooms well furnished with antique furniture. For people who like being away from madding crowds of Darjeeling, close to nature, it’s location is good. Overall, very good value for money.

BangladeshThe common areas are ill-maintained. The carpets and sofas need some serious cleaning. Breakfast arrangement can be improved.
The view of Kanchenjunga from this property is simply stunning! The rooms are really spacious. Has such a royal charm to this place! Beds and bathrooms were very clean.

IndiaThe surrounding garden needs a lot of upkeep, mattresses need to be changed as some of us found it tad difficult to sleep.
It is lovely place to stay I. If you want to be away from the maddening crowd but surrounded by history. The approach road is bad and narrow, but the property which is adjacent to the Raj Bari is huge. The garden around the place need some landscaping and maintenance. Our group of 9 were the only ones there so the whole property was ours. Food was good and very reasonably priced. A special shout out to Kshitij. He was a complete sweetheart who took exceptional care of our requirements and comfort. Rinchen was a lovelybhost who welcomed us in a very traditional manner and also made sure that we were looked after well. He even opened the Raj Bari for us to enjoy viewing the place from the inside. I loved my experience and recommend this place to anyone looking to enjoy the other side of Darjeeling.

Excellent property. The approach road is a challenge. Really worth every penny. The view of Kanchenjunga is absolutely stunning. Staff courteous. However the property is a little run down with understaffing and lack of room heating arrangement

IndiaBroken furniture and sofas, very much need of maintenance, because I was upgraded to upper floor against my booking on ground floor, I would think if I had to pay the price of the upper floor, it would not be value for money. The ground floor room appeared to be very dark and noisy. The front garden is open to public and therefore very noisy with children from the locality. It is a part of the property though. Our room was very cold even for October end but the electric blankets in the bed saved the night.
Large rooms on the upper floor as we were upgraded, very hospitable staff who tried their best to make our stay comfortable, good home cooked food at reasonable prices, great view of Kangchenjunga peak, The property is pet friendly.

IndiaA slight improvement on the menu is much needed. Particularly the set breakfast and the Chinese chef needs a replacement.
My recent stay at Rani Kothi (Burdwan Palace) in Darjeeling was truly delightful. Nestled in a peaceful corner of the town, this 250 years old heritage property offers a perfect blend of old-world charm and modern comfort. The ambience is serene, with a beautiful view of the surrounding hills and lush greenery. The rooms were spacious, clean, and tastefully decorated, with wooden floors and vintage furniture that added a nostalgic touch. The staff was courteous, always ready to help with a smile. I particularly would like to appreciate Mojesh for his prompt room service and the everlasting smile he had on his face. Overall, I had a very comfortable and relaxing stay. I would recommend Rani Kothi to anyone looking for a quiet retreat with a heritage feel in the heart of Darjeeling.
