Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe bathroom was more of a wet room but it dried quickly.
Adel and the team were amazing! Extremely accommodating and welcoming, and they recommended excellent trips to Periyaar Tiger Reserve as well as the jeep tour (where we managed to see wild elephants!). The location is great - very central yet quiet and it was definitely something seeing the wild monkeys and giant squirrels in the garden. Breakfast was lush - fresh sourdough and homemade peanut butter and chocolate spread. Wish we could've stayed for longer!

Adel & his team were extremely helpful and friendly, making our stay feel like home. The hotel is stunning, being able to watch the wildlife in the trees from the comfort of your room balcony was very special and having a pool was a bonus. We especially loved the breakfast and food offered at the cafe, made a nice change to India food.

United KingdomNot much - lots of bugs but it is basically on the edge of a jungle. Take repellent.
Adel, the owner / host, was the kindest person we met on our India travels. He was incredibly kind and trusting and went out of his way to provide the best possible experience for our stay, not just in the hotel but in Thekkady itself. Massive thanks for his hospitality. From our room we saw monkeys, giant squirrels, many types of bird, and an amazing wildlife landscape - with the balcony literally amongst the trees. I can't recommend this accommodation more and hopefully will be coming back again

AustraliaThe management and staff couldn’t have been kinder and the food was exceptional… fresh and delicious. During my stay I had a sambar deer grazing outside and a band of black langur monkeys as neighbours just off my verandah, and the morning bird song was magic. Highly recommended!

SpainChrissie's Hotel in Thekkady provided a very pleasant stay. Its location is a major advantage, being conveniently within walking distance of the Periyar Tiger Reserve entrance. We also enjoyed seeing some local wildlife nearby due to its proximity to nature. The hotel features a nice swimming pool, which was enjoyable for relaxing, and the on-site restaurant served great food. We found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful throughout our visit, which added positively to the experience. Considering the amenities and location, the hotel is very affordable and offers really good value for money. Overall, Chrissie's Hotel is probably the best choice for accommodation in Thekkady, offering a comfortable and well-located base for exploring the area. We had a very very positive experience and would recommend it to anyone.

United KingdomReally lovely hotel and great base for Periyar. The food was excellent - very tasty Keralan food and also some amazing homemade peanut butter and dark chocolate spread with breakfast. The staff were really welcoming and helpful and helped us book an early morning boat trip and green walk at the Periyar Tiger reserve - as you need an Indian bank account to book in advance. No tigers spotted but a young elephant, monkeys and lots of birds.

United KingdomIt’s worth going to Periyar just to stay at this place. We stayed in the family room and it was wonderful. We saw a bigger variety of birds whilst sitting in the pool than we did when on a bird watching walk in the National Park. It’s also the tallest building in the town so you get a wonderful view. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Whenever we arrived they were so excited to welcome us. Wifi in the rooms is pretty patchy so don’t plan to wfh here.

GermanyAmazing hotel in Kumily near the bus station and periyar national park. Adel and the staff are super kind and helpful. The view from the balcony and roof terrace is incredible: you get to see monkeys and malabar squirrels and all kinds of birds. The breakfast is also very good: Indian items, self-made bread and toast and jams and fresh fruit.

GermanyBreakfast time starts a bit late, considering that many activities in the Periyar tiger reserve start quite early. A reduced breakfast was however available for us at 7, so not really a big issue.
This place is simply amazing. Completely hidden from the road, the building is in the middle of a beautiful, lush garden, full of local animals that we could see from our balcony. You can tell how much care and dedication the owners put into it. The property also offers a pool on the roof and nice common areas for breakfast and lunch. We initially selected a more “luxurious” hotel in the area, before finding Chrissie’s and booking here for its great reviews. After a few weeks already in India, we were a bit scared of its “rustic” looks. We didn’t regret our choice for a second: the room was really clean and comfortable, furnished simply but with good taste and well kept. The balcony is beautiful, and we really felt inside a rainforest. The owners and the staff are extremely friendly and hospitable. One of us was sick and they offered plenty of homemade ginger-lemon tea, delivered directly to our room, which was very helpful. The hotel has a restaurant offering a mix of Indian and international cuisine, which was quite good. Breakfast is also really good, rich and variate, with both Indian and continental options, including homemade jams and bread. While being in the nature, the property is close both to shops, and to the Periyar tiger reserve which can be reached on foot. Parking is available in a small lot nearby. Overall, absolutely recommended!

United KingdomIf you were unlucky enough to be next to noisy visitors, you would hear them a lot as the walls are quite thin.
The welcome. The great guys who run this place they are so friendly & can’t do enough for you. The accommodation is set amongst the trees with amazing balconies. The location in the town is perfect too. Rooms are colourful. The smell of the coffee plants also around is beautiful like jasmine (possibly just at a certain time of year). Altogether a fantastic place to stay.

Fantastic place, a highlight of our 6 weeks in India. Lovely balcony, from where we saw so much wildlife. Pool, yoga room and roof terrace all excellent. Highly recommend a stay here.
