I could find nothing to dislike. It was the most amazing experience.

It was one of the most beautiful properties I've visited in India, and in the most beautiful location with amazing, and welcoming locals. The property also had a fascinating history, and peaceful atmosphere. I visited during the week and therefore, it was a bit more empty, but the staff was still fully staffed and giving full services. It felt so personal, and a more than a 5-star experience. I was so inspired, I made a painting of the hotel's garden area, and the little ducks that roam - freely around the area. Oh, and cute monkeys around the location :) Made the experience even better.

Though the rooms were spacious with all amenities the bathroom had some issues. The drainage was partially clogged leading to water lodging inside bathroom. Also power disruption happened couple of times during stay and backup did not kick in instantaneously. Be prepared to stay in darkness for a while. Restaurant charges seemed to be not value for money as the rates felt highly overpriced.

Excellent property from Taj in Coonor. An old mansion expanded and upgraded to luxury hotel. We stayed in Deluxe room and was spacious to accomodate a family of 4. The buffet breakfast which was complimentary had wide spread of items. Property is strategically located and away from traffic and noise. The staff from front office, through restaurant to housekeeping always welcome you with a smile are were really welcoming and available at service. Worth mentioning the help and guidance extended by Management trainee Subhakesh. He was very cordial, guided and even walked us to some nearby attractions outside property. He explained the history of mansion and helped us plan our itinerary during our stay at the property.

The lawn, the bonfire, the walk at night during misty night (we stayed for 2 nights and it rained both nights - amazing experience). The staff is very polite and helpful. They have a small activity room with a pool table, carrom and a TT table which is OK. My kid was very excited, playing with the ducks and swings. Food was good in quality and taste. Of course not as lavish as a 5 star.

The hotel needs more staff to suffice the demand

I stayed in hotel Gateway Coonoor, Tamil Nadu accompanying my elderly parents from 12-14 April 2024. I am happy with staying in this heritage hotel and really felt privileged to be a part of the history. As the campus started in the year 1857 and after several changes of ownerships Taj group owned the property in 1990. I liked the hotel because the Taj group maintained the sprawling old campus splendidly keeping the heritage and historical background keeping old trees, nurturing shrubs and grasses flanked with gardens with blossomed flowers of various hues. Apart from it the view of the surrounding hills from the hotel is splendid and celestial. Interestingly the Guest room allotted to me was in a typical colonial type bangalow which was built in 1929 . I liked the Room as it has a entrance hall with wall to wall French glass windows and rich furnishing. Main bedroom was very spacious separated from the hall by a French glass door. Elegantly furnished with white marble topped furniture. The room decoration was simple but very elegant. Wash room was large and richly finished. Food was good and tasty. Complementary buffet breakfast was good with large no of spread of food items. Staffs were cordial. However Hotel Service requires little bit attention of the management.
