Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

IndiaIf adventure is the calling and short treks through offbeat paths are your calling then look no further. Mohanji and his wife took care of us like family and introduced us to their beautiful culture and cuisine. When there do ask for the fermented thumba (a millet based warm beverage)

IndiaMohan ji and his family treated us like their own family members! The location is wonderful and a must visit for all nature lovers and hikers. Located amidst the beautiful Himalayas and nearby to Darjeeling, its a great place to spend quality time with family or even for having a lone time. It was an absolute pleasure to visit the place and share memories with Mohan ji and his wonderful family. However if you have joint/knee pains or not comfortable with hiking, it might not be a comfortable option!

IndiaOne thing to know is that the property is located in some other village. You have to take Badamtam taxi from Darjeeling and get down and bachhabaari. From there the homestay is located inside the jungle. You can call for a utility vehicle to pick you up but you have to pay extra for that. But it’s really worth it. You can visit the river nearby or go to the village and sit near the bridge and swim in the waters. It is a nice serene gateway.
The hospitality is just amazing, I went with one of my friend and we stayed for 4 nights and we had the best time ever. The hosts are really welcoming and very kind and sweet. Aunty will make yummy food and they will make you a part of their lives.

NetherlandsLive in Nature is absolutely one of the most amazing places were we have stayed. About the hosts: Mohan Ji, Jashoda Ji, and their son Rohan Bhai are the hosts of the homestay. They are very friendly and welcomed us with open arms. They have trekked almost every part of the forest, river and all the nearby treks, so they are the best advisors for that. About the food: During the stay we had breakfast, lunch and dinner, fruits and lots of chai’s at a very reasonable price. The home cooked, organic food, with local products was very tasty and variety. About the rooms : The rooms are very clean and they changed the bedsheets and pillow covers at a regular interval. The bathroom is next door and very clean, and they provide hot water at request. Our room was the one with the window towards the mountains in the east, and we get to woke up with the sun, every morning. About the surroundings: The homestay is close to the borders of Sikkim, so Majhitar Bridge is just a jungle trek away. And With in 10 mins of walk you’ll find the Rungdung River, where we went almost every day. During trekking we got to see beautiful mountain views and we were surpised to see so many different types of butterflies. PS- We first booked the place for a few days, but then we end up staying for more than two weeks, and it turns out, most of their guests do the same😄.

Everything was amazing. Located deep in the valleys under Darjeeling, this is the place for a peaceful retreat from hustle and bustle of Darjeeling. The hosts will welcome you in like family, cook delicious meals, and show you the steep walks around the house!

IndiaWe visited this homestay recently, and the hosts welcomed us warmly. A pet dog also played around us happily wagging its tail. We stayed there for 2 nights. It's a perfect place to explore nature in all its awe, there is a river nearby, tea gardens along with orange orchards, mountainous curvy foot tracks that look like straight out of a movie scene. Apart from that, the owner, jashoda aunty cooked us delicious regional meals, and they treated us like their own family. It's a perfect stay to explore scenic natural beauty and experience serene tranquility.

IndiaThe hospitality was very good. We got to experience local homemade dishes. The homestay is surrounded by mountains and has a small river at 10 min walk. The owners are very helpful and assisted us at every part of our stay and tour in Darjeeling. But the best part of this homestay for me was the food prepared by the house mistress.

IndiaThe local taxi drivers in Darjeeling are not trustworthy. You can find a shared taxi from Darjeeling busstand to Badamtam, don't reserve any taxi, they charged 1500, but the shared taxi fare is only 70.
The place is very beautiful and the hosts Mohan ji and Joshoda aunty were too kind and humble people. They gave me company all the time, and served delicious local food. The river nearby is a must visit place. If you are lucky you may find some Peacocks.

IndiaAll was wonderful.
One of the best places I've had the pleasure of staying in Himalayan region. Such friendly people and beautiful pets. As a vegetarian Loved how food was grown right there, was fresh and delicious. The place had it's own set of activities far away from city, you won't feel the need to see the mainstream places as there's a river with clean blue ponds you can swim in and forests nearby to walk, hike, camp and spot wildlife.

IndonesiaJust something to be aware of: As a foreign tourist: Please be aware that the people of the village are not used to foreigners wandering around alone in the jungle. They get very concerned about safety. If you are a solo traveller see that you have someone accompanying you when you want to roam the area.
The family is very friendly and was eager to make me feel welcome and part of their family. Meals were always prepared with fresh vegetables and I got to taste a variety of their traditional dishes. The environment is beautiful and quiet: Mountains, jungle, river, fresh spring water, scenic view points... A real invitation to enjoy Nature.
