Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomHard to get hold of the people running the guesthouse. They are quite laidback and happy to WhatsApp you, etc but don’t expect an arrival committee!
Very quiet with nice little garden and people are quite friendly. There is a restaurant on site which is handy. They can arrange tuk tuk for you, although one time they didn’t show up. You are super close to Auroville visitors centre and matrimandir

AustraliaNo coat hangers or extra floor towel ….. but quickly supplied when asked. Problem that hot water tap was right hand (random in all rooms). Staff did not give clear instructions and problem solved by another guest. Then no hot water, or other issues.
Easy parking at Lotus Garden and Auroville. Good view of the surrounding Forrest. Friendly, helpful staff and laid back friendly international guests to meet and chat with.

FranceStaff never around, make it impossible to get any information (or give you wrong information as if he would be new to Auroville). Even to get toilet paper (not in the room when we arrived) was a challenge. It is a pity because with a proper management it could be a little gem. Hot water not working, in case it is important for you. Also, not so close to Matrimandir compared to other guesthouses, despite what they state. You are at the border limit of ‘Auroville village’ and will need a bike (what is great way to move around) or walk 20min++ to get to any main points of the area.
Nice house with extensive garden. Room was decent with windows over green and quite area.

IndiaIt can be maintained better. The management of the service is not very good. Dinesh Restaurant is popular. But again not well-managed. Not very clean either.
The property is very beautiful. The beauty of the place is in its calmness and serenity. We loved our stay because of the serene location of the property.

IndiaThough the property is inside a forest road the location is good for travellers who wanted to have peace. Property didn't have breakfast but the lunch is good. There is no TV in the room hence one can be away from the entertainment and focus on self.

IndiaThe room wasn't that good for the money I paid. The help changed our room to another room that was filled with dust and wasn't maintained well. And the breakfast that was promised while booking wasn't provided.
The location is quite good. It's inside Auroville that is not accessible to regular visitors.

IndiaThe location is a bit off road along a muddy patch, not a very big deal, but something to be careful of when riding a bike during late hours when it's dark. There is not much lighting along the road leading to this property during night time. Since the property manager is the only person working on site, he may be away from his desk when you need him, but generally he is very helpful and supportive of guests's needs.
The room was spacious, with a big bed and storage cabinet. Staff was friendly and supportive, and gave a good tour of all facilities during check in.

PolandWe stayed for a week, had a comfort stay. The place is fine, very clean. The room is basic but there is space to sit inside the building and outside in the garden. The location is good, inside Auroville (which is actually both an advantage and disadvantage because many cafes in Auroville are for Aurovillians only and regular shops are a bit far; but it's great to have all what's in Auroville in walking distance).
