Sajan and his family really looked after us. The room was exremely comfortable and very clean. Breakfast was fabulous local food with plenty to eat and different every day. Sajan was able to help with all our queries, from transport to local restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we would highly recommend.

The house is located in a very calm place, surrounded by tropical trees. The hosts (Sajan and his wife) are very kind and helpful. Don't be afraid to ask questions if you need anything (f. ex. they can advice a good restaurant, order a taxi for you or arrange transportation to Kochi airport). We had breakfasts included, very tasty ones, so for those who are going to visit Kerala for the 1st time it's a good opportunity to try some safe local food 🙂 The rooms are clean, but quite small.

We took 2 rooms and aircon was supposed to be in both of them, but it was only in one room. In the other one there was only a ceiling fun, which is not sufficient, considering sweltering heat, also at night. There are a few small beaches near there, you can easily get there on foot, but there are no sunbeds or umbrellas in place. We asked Sajan if we can rent an umbrellas from him and he said they don't have any and don't know anybody in the neighborhood who has a beach umbrellas. It's a bit strange not to provide this kind of simple service while offering homestay so close to the ocean. And in February it's just impossible to spend time on the beach without umbrella, it's rather dangerous. Hence instead of enjoying proximity to beaches we had to take a tuk-tuk or a bus to Marari beach (which is a bit far from the homestay and it's not clean, but at least you can take sunbeds and umbrellas there). Room cleaning service was offered only once during our week stay and it happened too late, on the eve of our departure, so we refused it since it was our last day in Kerala.

Staying at Marari Coastal Dream Homestay has truly been a dream. For me, it’s been so lovely. When I arrived, I immediately felt at home. It was so clean, welcoming, and nice that I instantly decided to stay longer. Instead of two days, I stayed for a week. And if I had more time, I would have stayed much, much longer. Arriving here was like arriving at an oasis after wandering for months in a desert. Definitely the cleanest place I found in my two months traveling in India! Sajan is incredibly kind and takes care of every detail, from the house to his recommendations (from boat tours to massages and ayurvedic treatments, transportation, and more). I was looking for a very quiet place, and I found it. It’s only a few steps from the beach, surrounded by lush nature and a quiet neighborhood. This was exactly what I needed. There aren’t many restaurants nearby, but the food that his wife, Anna, prepares is absolutely delicious. I had all my meals there, and I was very satisfied. I’ve been so impressed by how much care Sajan puts into everything, how he keeps everything clean and tidy, take care of the garden, and looks after his guests. I’m so happy I had the chance to stay here. If I ever come back to this area of India, I will definitely return, and I’ll be sure to tell my friends traveling to India to visit this little corner of paradise. Thank you Sajan and Anna.

I would go back. It was comfortable, I felt safe and the food was good. Room- Nice, clean. Bathroom was a wet room, could do with a shelf near the shower to put soap etc. I used a hanging washbag. Shower is doesn't drain well so lots on the floor but you can sweep it after which helps Hosts - as great as every one else says. Kind, helpful, honest. Arranged yoga lesson for me there, approx £5. Arranged massage- I had to go into town, helped negotiate a deal I wanted to get the bus into town rather than pay for tuk tuks each time and I was given the info Washing machine use for free. They even moved my laundry to keep it in the sun to dry. When my fan was playing up it was fixed later that day. I would get an AC room if I stayed again though as it was hot. Meals - I had breakfast and dinner there- Great food. Amongst the best I had in Kerala Mosquitos- a few at dinner if I didn't have the fan and repellent on Location - small shop nearby, near the beach, not close to town but easy to get to town. Nice and quiet.

Nothing about the homestay The beach - not great for swimming or even paddling- strong waves, also some wild dogs but they generally just lie there.

The accommodation was a good size and spotlessly clean. The family were very helpful, organising Tuk tuks, massage, yoga, kayaking and taxi to the airport - all at very reasonable prices. They provided excellent Kerelan style food. We had breakfasts and an evening meal. Sanjan even chilled our wine for us!

All in all it was a great place to stay.

A little far from the main beach and some construction on local beach at the moment.

Absolutely beautiful and charming! Basically no tourists in the whole area, so you'll be alone with the fishermen on a huge, beautiful and clean deserted beach 150 meters away from home. (Not clean like they don't do their business on the beach, but not too much plastic and garbage!) The family running the place is beautiful too, extremely discreet, respectful and non-intrusive. We had one of the best meals in the whole region for only 300 rupees per person. I'd recommend you have all your meals in the homestay. Also, huge bathroom, huge "balcony" (so huge I'm not sure what it's called) and great shared space with just one other room, so if need be you can work in your room, "your" balcony or the big dining area upstairs. The room itself is very quiet, and except maybe for the countless birds, you won't be woken up by a chaos of horns, shouts and mosques like almost everywhere else in India. All in all, we spent less than 6000 rupees (75$) for 3 nights and 2 meals and water, with (good) breakfast included.

The wifi is quite unstable, working fine for basic stuff but not so great for video calls (you'll get between 0.5 and 40 mbs, more lire 15 on average but unstable) —I'm pretty sure it's the whole area and not just the homestay. Speaking of which, beware: it's not really Marari, it's Kattoor, about 4 km away from Marari's "center". So it's perfect if you need calm and relaxation, but not if you need bars, restaurants and touristy stuff nearby. For anything else than the beach or a walk in the village, you need to grab a rickshaw, which costs around 30 rupees per kilometer, so the drivers charge 250 for 8 km or 400 for 12 km —just so you have an idea, you can make more than three round trips by train to Kochi (50 km away) for 400 rupees. So a basic restaurant "nearby" will end up costing about 1,000. But it doesn't matter since Anna's food in the homestay is both better and cheaper anyway!

It's a very quiet place. The room was very clean, the sheets and towels were white and new. The family who runs the place is very nice and if you like homemade food I suggest you get their food. It was an amazing taste of Kerala. It's far away from the Backwaters but the owners can ask for a tuktuk.

I was disappointed because the see is 100m from the place but I didn't get into the water because it had a lot of crabs. If you don't mind them or just want to walk around you can have the best time there. There is no one around to disturb.
