Mellow Fellow is a special place right in the heart of Darjeeling. It has a perfect location, a beautiful and atmospheric building, and—most importantly—a warm and welcoming vibe that makes you feel right at home. A big shout-out to the manager, who is much more than just a manager—he’s a true friend, always helpful, kind, and genuinely caring. I wholeheartedly recommend this hostel to anyone looking not just for a place to stay, but for a great experience and amazing people.

I stayed here for a week and absolutely loved it!! The location is ideal- just a short walk from Mall road and the iconic toy train. The staff are incredibly warm, friendly and always ready to help. The common area has a relaxed chill vibe perfect for unwinding. The price is affordable and the internet connectivity was reliable throughout my stay. Highly recommend for a long workation. I would definitely love to visit again!!!!

There was a spider in the washroom, it was quite big. The camp light of bunk beds wasn't working.Everything else was good

Great stay, cozy and welcoming vibe. All key locations like Mall Road, Chauk Bazar, Zoo, HMI, temples, and popular eateries are within walking distance. The staff were genuinely warm and helpful. Big thanks to Mr. Samit for assisting with my queries. Special mention to Ms. Yangkey is super friendly and lovely to chat with, We had a great conversation before I left. Would absolutely recommend this hostel for a lovely stay in Darjeeling.

The honking by the vehicles on the road can sometimes be annoying. Nothing they can do about it though so carry some earmuffs if you are a light sleeper. Cheers!

11 / 10. Staying here was one of the highlights of my trip in India, because of how awesome the owner is and the atmosphere he created. From the moment I walked in I was welcomed and invited to drinks and we spent the next few nights hanging out and making music. And if you're planning on going to Sikkim after, the owner is from Sikkim and also has a hostel in Gangtok! Highly recommended. Thank you Karma and Samit!

There is no such thing which you won't be liking once you reach Mellow Fellow

I'll start with my personal details that I have travelled 28 states and union territories, and I can say that Mellow Fellow was an excellent experience. I met with Owner Karma and Host Samit, both were very helpful and guided with each and every detail in Darjeeling as well as for Sikkim. I would strongly recommend staying at Mellow Fellow since this is near Darjeeling railway station, Rink Mall, Mall Road. Also by walking you can cover Mahakaal Temple, Tea Estate, HMI, Zoo and Muesem.

I was mostly satisfied. They could add a breakfast option. Although most of the places are nearby so not really a problem.

I recently visited Darjeeling with my colleagues for a mix of sightseeing and a relaxing staycation, and staying at this hostel turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. It’s easily one of the best hostels I’ve experienced. The location is perfect—just about a kilometer from Darjeeling Mall, with popular spots like Glenary’s, Keventer’s, and the bustling Mall Road all within easy walking distance. The hostel itself has a cozy, welcoming vibe. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms clean, and everything was well-maintained throughout our stay. Whether you’re looking to unwind or work remotely, the common space outside is calm and peaceful, with reliable Wi-Fi that made working from the hills a breeze. One of the most charming features is the artistic wall murals that add a splash of creativity and warmth to the space. But what truly made our stay memorable was our host, Mr. Karma. He was incredibly warm and hospitable, and we had some great conversations with him and fellow travelers. If you’re heading to Darjeeling, I highly recommend staying here—it’s the perfect blend of comfort, community, and charm.

Staying at Mellow Fellow was the best decision I could’ve made. The location is perfect, the building is beautiful and full of history but what truly makes it special is the atmosphere created by Karma and Tenz. They are such warm, genuine, and kind-hearted people. Thank you both from the bottom of my heart. Everything is spotless and well kept. The rooms are cozy, the white linens are fresh and clean everything is simple and cared for with love. Breakfast was included and always a real treat: something different every day, delicious and home-cooked by the owner’s sister. Karma is an incredibly open and generous person. He’s not just a host he’s a true friend to his guests. He’ll recommend great places to eat, what to see, and is always ready to help with anything. He helped me a lot with my trip to Sikkim, and I’m truly grateful for that. I stayed at Mellow Fellow for five days, and it quickly began to feel like home. The host, Mr. Samit, along with the other members of the hostel, was incredibly welcoming and friendly. One of the highlights of my stay was the jamming sessions, where I got to meet fellow travelers, exchange cultural stories, and share endless life experiences. Mellow Fellow truly felt like a home away from home.
