A safe, friendly, clean property right in the heart of Udaipur, close to the palace, bridge etc. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was exactly as shown in the photos. Very tidy, clean, good wifi, good value for money and we especially liked the comfy seats within the window alcove. Would definitely stay again.

    Nothing.

A Perfect Stay – Truly Felt Like Home From the moment we checked in, everything about this place spoke volumes of thoughtful hospitality and genuine warmth. Hygiene standards were top-notch, and every interaction — whether with the staff or the management — was marked by professionalism, humility, and an eagerness to help. The rooms? Simply fantastic. Impeccably clean, aesthetically pleasing, and designed with a charming cultural flair that beautifully reflects the local heritage. Nestled in a retro-inspired setting, the ambience added a unique character to our entire stay. One detail that truly stole my heart was the beautifully arranged “first coffee of the day” setup. A kettle, along with neatly provided milk powder, coffee, and sugar sachets, allowed us to start our mornings just the way we like — with a hot cup of coffee, brewed at our convenience, without having to wait on room service or step outside. A small gesture, but one that spoke volumes. We stayed for three days, and not once did it feel like a hotel — it felt like home. Cozy, comforting, and cared for in every way. A big thank you to the entire team for making our stay truly memorable.

This place is a gem in the heart of Udaipur's old city. My room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and beautifully decorated with cozy vibe. The manager and his staff are very welcoming and helpful and did their best to make me feel at home. I also suggest the top roof restaurant in the same building, tasty dishes and very friendly staff as well. I highly recommend to anyone visiting Udaipur.

Nothing! You pay for what you get!

The location in the old city near the palace. Everything is close by. The staff are helpful, and the restaurant is on the roof with fantastic views for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. There is a hotel nearby if you want to use their pool.

The restaurant had some strange timings. The taxi we booked through them was very expensive.

Nice room, lovely sitting windows (which are referred to as a balcony in the description), luckily there is a lift to go to the restaurant (not the rooms) so at least we could take it to get to breakfast. Nice view from the restaurant. The staff was helpful.

We had a wonderful stay at Pratap Bhawan. We arrived after an overnight bus and were greeted by staff who made us welcome and comfortable and allowed us to check in early. The hotel is by far the cleanest place I have stayed in India, the rooftop restaurant is fabulous and has beautiful views of the lake, sunset is unreal! We had a great massage organised by the hotel on site and they helped with taxis etc. we were even gifted a novel that mentions the hotel! Warm, kind genuine staff that go out of their way to ensure you have the best experience in Udaipur, we would throughly recommend and only hope we can return sometime, thank you Pratap Bhawan!

All the staff where very helpful. Asking for and getting information for things like taxis, atm machines was excellent. The Charcoal restaurant was excellent in all aspects. It was a shame it was not open for breakfast, however the staff gave me directions to another restaurant on the waterfront close by.

Visitors need to be aware that this hotel is in the heart of the old city and where the night life is. One night was very noisy with loud music till midnight but second night much quieter. Expect dogs howling in street on and off during night and rubbish collections early morning

Hotel staff very friendly. This is a traditional 'colonial' style hotel so don't expect Hilton type layout. Room very spacious with two window seats and comfortable beds. A/c worked well when needed which was not much in February. Access via stairs but not lift was fine for us. Quiet internally. Overall this was a very authentic experience. Rooftop restaurant has magnificent lake views.

One of the doors to the rooms didnt close perfectly and the locks for the rooms while large didnt feel the most secure but with all the staff in the lobby it wasnt a big worry.

The little day beds in the window alcoves were awesome and the rooms themsleves looked nice. The bathrooms and showers were great and the staff were very friendly. Restaraunt upstairs was okay but a bit expensive. Location was perfect for exploring udaipur on foot.

Not the fault of the hotel but there were several power outages which was a bit annoying in the evenings. Like in many hotels in India the windows and doors are far from soundproof, so equip yourself with earplugs to avoid being waken up by howling dogs, other guests and honking tuktuks. At night it got quite chilly and we had to ask for additional blankets, as we only got provided with thin sheets.

We liked our three bed room with the nice little nook facing the street. It was clean, simple and spacious. The location is central, but can’t be accessed by car. You have to park the car outside the city center and take a tuktuk to reach the hotel. The restaurant „Charcoal“ on top of the hotel serves very good food throughout the day and offers amazing views over Udaipur and the lake. The hotel staff was kind and helpful, they organized a transfer to the airport for us.

    Nothing.

Great location, very large room with desk and chairs, large bathroom, kettle with tea/coffee, clean and quiet. Really good quality over price ratio. Breakfast on the rooftop is great as well (the indian chai is really tasty there !). A very nice place to stay in Udaipur.

There can be some street noise, which is not the hotels fault, just standard in India, suggest you bring earplugs
