How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewGopa Varma connected on whatsapp before we checked in and was very kind to provide a set of things we could do both at the retreat and on the way to the retreat - this was super helpful in planning our trip. The resort staff and Shenoj were very accommodating in checking us in late, making sure we have breakfast/ dinner based on our site seeing schedule - the meals were kid friendly, etc... They also suggested things we could do and arranged for the night safari where we saw elephants. Our kids really loved the place.
The flush for the specific room was a little slow - but usable.

Verified reviewThis place is not just a resort. It’s a calm, green paradise. Surrounded by nature, fresh air, and the sound of birds, I felt completely relaxed. Every morning, I woke up to beautiful views, enjoyed hot tea in the rain, and felt connected to the nature around me. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the food was delicious, and the staff were so kind and friendly. They made me feel like family. Every moment was peaceful and filled with joy. A deep feeling of peace that stayed in my heart Kerala is called “God’s Own Country,” and now I know why.

Verified reviewI booked Pugmark Jungle Lodge Resort through Booking.com., and it clearly stated that there was air conditioning, but when I got there, I realized that not only was there no air conditioning in the room, but it was also very hot during the day. (It should also be remembered that the rent for the room is over Rs. 5000) The cleanliness of the room is very poor. There is dirt and dust in many places. Cobwebs are clearly visible in many places in the room, which is very troublesome for allergy sufferers. The staff was very cooperative and the location was good. The food could have been a little more delicious.

Verified reviewThe breakfast was nice; however, I would suggest you have some instant coffee around. The coffee was not nice at all. The staff were very courteous and accommodating.
The room was not as big as shown in the photos. I would suggest, turn the AC on an hour before the guest checks in to the tree house, it was like a microwave when we checked in.

Verified reviewA really unique jungle experience staying in a ‘treehouse’ just on the edge of the wildlife reserves. My room was large, clean with a great balcony which overlooked the palm trees of the resort and great for monkey and bird watching! Pugmarks even had its own watchtower which was so peaceful to sit in the morning and watch the wildlife come to life. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful taking me on a bike ride, organising tuktuks and taxis and making sure I was properly fed - the food was absolutely amazing and really generous portions. Thank you Gopa, Shinoj and the rest of the Pugmarks team for making my stay so special.

Verified reviewWe had an amazing stay at this beautiful resort surrounded by lush greenery and tranquil nature. The warm hospitality of the staff made the experience even more memorable. The resort’s amenities are very good - swimming pool, spacious rooms and nice vegetarian food too. We even upgraded our stay to the Tree house for one night and it was a mind blowing experience. With Jacuzi and great views amidst nature, this is one of a kind. The Tholpetty wildlife sanctuary and Kuruvadeep are quite nearby and had a great time there. We even had a great luck in spotting a Tiger @ Nagarhole wildlife reserve when passing out. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway amidst nature!

Verified reviewRemote location in the middle of the jungle. Super nature all around. Beautifully maintained pool. Very nice staff. Super tasty food cooked fresh every day. Dedicated chef. The boat trip on the local river was also very impressive. The tree house is beautifully furnished and in a fantastic romantic location surrounded by greenery. You have absolute peace and quiet. Only the sounds of the jungle can be heard.
By Indian standards, it was a rather expensive resort where expectations were not met in some spots.
