How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewRoom very humid and cold. I get sick.
Hi, Sorry for the inconvenience. Now, my side of hosting. You checked our place 2 days before arriving and found everything very nice. Your booking was for 7 nights, you left after 2 nights and out of Hospitality I didn't take full payment and let you Cancel, which is against our policy, that is no FREE Cancellation after arrival. Hence loss of business. We tried our best for your comfort. Your wife had cold when you arrived, and we gave Heater, extra Blanket and extra Hot water. Still you were not comfortable. And so in a very friendly way ( so it seemed) you left. I am surprised you find almost everything bad including the staff and the Tariff which you didn't fully pay. Thanks anyways.

Verified reviewVery homely, staff were very attentive. Shivani went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. Room was very clean and well equipped. Breakfast had variety with different options each day of our stay - the homemade rose jam was a regular favourite though! We enjoyed the cooking class and learnt a lot about Rajasthani cuisine. Overall, the stay was very relaxing and felt safe and peaceful. It was a great place to enjoy our time in the beautiful town of Pushkar.
Room was a little cold but it was cooler outside at night. We were provided with a heater to help warm the room which helped.

Only one thing. Booking reservation tells is posible paying by card, but not true. I insisted and told about reservation rules . They said machine was broken, That is a stupid excuse.
Hi. Sorry for the machine. It was not an excuse, it was not working for last few days and new machine is on the way, as per bank. We do accept payment by card, but this was not in our hand. Wish you had asked me instead of the staff and I would have showed you the machine. Hope, you understand. Thanks.

Verified reviewThis was the best homestay we have stayed in our 4 weeks of travel in India. The hosts thought of everything, from a heater, tea and coffee, and plenty of toilet paper! The hot shower was the best we have had in India, and the breakfast that was provided totally exceeded our expectations. There was cereal, muesli, yummy buns, lassi, yoghurt, and plenty of chai! The host family was very caring and when we arrived a little unwell, the man popped out to the shops to get us some bread as we didnt feel like eating much. If you are feeling like a bit of luxury for a budget price then dont hesitate to book!

Verified reviewWonderful! We loved our private Terrasse, the clean and comfortable room with a fridge and kettle and the high standard bathroom! It was more than we expected, the staff was very attentive and friendly and we'd come back anytime. The location is a bit off the market street, therefore it's calm and quiet at night and in 5 min by foot you'll be anywhere you want.
Thanks a lot.

Hi, thanks for being our Guests. sorry about the dark room. We serve breakfast in the open, but there were many monkey on the roof, had made nuisance during breakfast and so had to serve in the room. Noted though.

Verified reviewThis was our best stay in India, everything was PERFECT! Shivani is a great host, everything she cooks is just delicious. The breakfast and dinners are plentiful, the best food we had in India. We also received many water bottles every day, which is super convenient. Location of the home stay is great, in a quieter street within walking distance from the center. The cooking class was also a nice experience. Shivani is always open to chat and share her knowledge and experience about India. Little bonus : there was even a mini-fridge in the bedroom! Thank you for everything!
The hot water in the shower gets lukewarm very fast, so you have to shower quickly - but I think this has more to do with India than with the accommodation itself

Verified reviewShivani and her partner were lovely hosts. They provide a nice spread for breakfast. The room was comfortable and as described. We recommend this place for couples travelling to Pushkar. Shivani also surprised us with a nice packed breakfast on leaving since we had an early train. We felt very welcome here throughout our stay

Verified reviewIt's like home. Shivani is a caring host, always there to help whenever I need anything. Home-cooked meals are so tasty. I had dinner at the homestay every day during my 3 days in Pushkar, and there was always something different. I really enjoyed the conversation with Shivani at dinner every day. We talked about the place, culture and what's happening in town, just like a relaxing dinner time chat at home. The cooking class is informative and so much fun, not to be missed for anyone interested in Indian food. The place is spotlessly clean and comfortable. Highly recommend!
Everything is perfect.

It’s a gem of a place and the staff are so warm, welcoming, inviting and enjoyable. We also had a very special Diwali ceremony and was so kind of the owners to include us, we will remember forever. Our favourite stay on our trip to India. Easy walking to anything.

It can get a little noisy at night, because there are some partys closeby. But we were fine using earplugs.

Verified reviewA true gem in Pushkar! Wonderful clean rooms with airconditioning, fan, hot water and tea/coffee making facilities. Handy communal space to relax. Great WiFi. Shivani and her lovely staff were so accommodating, we really appreciated their generosity especially leaving our bags after checkout. You absolutely must do Shivani’s cooking class! It was so well organised and so much fun and we made delicious meals to remember for life. At the very least you must try Shivanis cooking - her Paratha’s were incredible and the rose jam at breakfast is a really special flavour. We recommend to all and would love to stay here again.
