Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

IndiaI liked it all! Just wish I’d stayed there for more than two nights.
Fabulous restored Chettiar palace, in a beautiful village. The building is serene and comfortable, the rooms calming and cool. The food was delicious and local (they had western options but I didn’t try those). The pool looked glorious. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful. There are bikes to borrow for free to explore the neighbouring villages. There was a lot of information about things to do in the neighbourhood, but the hotel was so lovely it was hard to pull myself away.

IndiaThe mansion had been stripped of its ceiling before it was handed over to be made into a heritage hotel. What a loss, may be impossible to restore.
The managers, two French men, have compiled a great amount of information about the Chettinad area and provided it to each guest in the form of binders. They are instrumental in applying to make Chettinad a UNESCO World Heritage site. With the right backing from the Indian government and Tamil Nadu State this can succeed, and make the area of Chettinad into a true cultural heritage instead of letting it decay into yet another nondescript area of the country. Their commitment to the heritage of India is truly remarkable and commendable. The place was expensive. They make up for it by giving huge rooms and including meals. Comparable properties charge lesser for the room, and make up for it with expensive meals. Also, the room they gave us came with its own area in front, making me think about how nice it could have been to while away a few lazy days there.

This property is absolutely beautiful. All staff members are always ready to assist you with whatever you need. We asked them to schedule a tuk-tuk trip around the surrounding villages and they set us up with a local driver and it was a memorable journey. We took yoga lessons with Pradeep, who is a wonderful and knowledgeable instructor. We could acknowledge by name all of the staff members because all of them made us feel comfortable and welcomed. The owners of Saratha are very friendly and engaging. They make a point to interact with all the guests and share their experiences as to how they remodeled this beautiful mansion taking into account the local community and the local resources. The food is amazing and you feel relaxed and happy around beautiful objects, spaces and people. They also have a store with beautiful merchandise!

SingaporeI am terrified of lizards and I saw a number of them in the common spaces. Some were really big. If something was done to keep them away, that would have made this experience 10/10.
+ very authentic While restoration and renovation work has been done, the property still maintained its authentic charm. Many write ups were available for guests to read about paintings, photos and artefacts. + staff Very warm and welcoming staff who took a lot of initiative in understanding food preferences and making suggestions. Special appreciation for Kennedy who took care of our meals and made sure we were comfortable. Food was freshly prepared, our preferences were asked in advance- very efficient and minimal wastage. + facilities Pool was very well maintained. I liked that the hotel did not have a tv set, it truly enabled us to switch off and be present. Staff also provided anti mosquito burners - they were really effective and these burners didn't have a foul smell.

IndiaIf the property is a bit more competitively priced, it is sure to attract more customers.
Bernard Dragon and his colleague have done a fantastic job of restoring the Chettiar home to its former Glory. Staying at the property provides a unique insight into the lifestyle of the heydays of the Chettiar families. The well thought out local cuisine for dinners was very appealing. The South Indian Breakfast with dosas and steaming idlis were welcome... The Ayurvedic massage was a fantastic experience.
