The family gave us a warm welcome, served us tea which was nice, our room was bigger than expected and very clean, the aircon and fan work beautifuly, as it was very hot.

Towel rack in shower area. There is not much activity in Agra, so TV in property is a must.

Its a family run 5room place in residential locality. Close to Expressway and Taj Mahal. neat and clean place. But bathroom needs to be better equipped with Soap/ Conditioner/ Towel placing in Shower area. No TV in entire property, so be prepared accordingly.

There was nothing I did not like

This was an absolutely wonderful home stay. Our hosts were so accommodating and friendly. The check in was smooth, and we were even treated to some masala chai, which was delicious, as well as bracelets in celebration of a local festival. The location was great - close to cafes and to the Taj Mahal. Our host arranged a government approved guide for us in order for us to see the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort and did not hesitate to book us reliable transport. The restaurant recommendations were also great. The home cooked breakfast was a highlight!

Nothing, it was lovely

When I booked it I hadn’t realised it was staying at a family home and was a little shocked initially but I don’t think I’ve ever had such a warm welcome and felt such as home as I did during my 3 nights at Shiv Kothi. The family welcomed me into their home with warmth and kindness. It was so safe and my hosts were so accommodating, securing great deals on tours and transport and even a great discount at a local restaurant- I really had no desire to leave at all

As visitors from outside India, there were a few moments that felt a bit unfamiliar or unexpected for us — like visiting shops that may have had commission arrangements, and some cultural differences around tipping and billing. This may be completely standard locally, but it’s something travelers might want to be aware of. Overall, we appreciated the support we received and are thankful for the accommodating coordination (arranging driver, guides, etc.) that helped us navigate a new place with ease. Thank you.

We’re grateful for the hospitality during our stay and especially appreciated the effort put into arranging a driver and excellent guides for both Agra and Jaipur — they truly made our trip easier and more meaningful. Most of the buildings in the immediate surrounding also seem to be hotels and not much else. But there are still a couple of nice cafés close by, and you don't have to walk very far to get to more lively areas with more cafés and restaurants.

The hosts were great! Very welcoming and we got some good advice for things to do during our stay. They helped us book drivers and a guide. The room was very nice too. Beautifully furnished and spacious, with access to a balcony (that was shared with one other room). The location of the homestay was at walking distance from the Taj Mahal, and also close to the metro.

Very pleasent stay with lovely family hospitality! The breakfast was very good. Comfortable and spacious room with complimentary water, shower gel etc. The location is a little bit out of Agra, but has good reachability with a TukTuk. Would recommend!

We came to stay at Shiv Kothi Homestay at the end of our trip in India, having been worn out staying in other average accommodation where the hosts did not look after us. From the moment we arrived, the family at Shiv Kothi made us feel so welcome. In particular, all three family members went out of their way to help us. The eldest son helped us sort out paying the tolls for our uber intercity as we did not have enough cash on hand, the mother cooked us the most delicious breakfast (her aloo parathas were legendary) and helped talk to our taxi drivers in Hindi, and the father put us in touch with a fantastic and safe driver at the last minute for a fair price when our other rides back to Delhi fell through, enabling us to get back to Delhi airport in time for our flight. I would highly recommend using their drivers. On top of that, the rooms were modern, clean and large, and the bed very comfortable. It was such a relief to stay with a nice and honest family, and we could not recommend this place more for other travellers to Agra - and for any type of traveller. We were backpackers, but it would be perfect for all others too.

Super nice house, very spacious, nicely laid out. We only stayed on night so didn't really get much time to chat with our hosts. Pity I think this is an ideal place as a base to explore Agra. Beds were really comfortable. Good value for the cost, A fine example of how things should be.

Everything! Such a wonderful family. When the hotel I orgianly booked was unacceptable I booked this and was so happy. Clean, excellent service, so many wonderful sitting areas. Bed was soft. Shower was separate,.unlike other places in India, no bucket bath. 100 percent recommend.

The host, run by a family, was really good and cooperative. They accepted our request to do an early check-in at 8:30 AM in the morning. Common space on the ground floor has a nice sitting area, a big dining table besides the kitchen. It is kept clean and you get a good home cooked breakfast. The rooms were large, clean and comfortable, with good storage spaces. The room also had an attached balcony, shareable with another room. The balcony has a sitting space and it's good to spend some time sitting idle and listening to music. The bathroom was clean and tidy, and spacious enough. Also there are a lot of restaurants nearby with good food options.

The homestay was clean and the rooms were very well maintained. The location was good and the family was lovely. The host was an India tour guide for decades, and had wonderful information for all of our India destinations. The breakfast was generous with delicious chai and aloo paratha.

We loved everything about our stay here! The rooms are big and comfortable, the wifi was great and the location is excellent. The highlight though is the host family - everyone is welcoming and friendly, and will do anything they can to make you feel comfortable. The owner helped us organise everything we wanted to do in Agra, and recommended a few extras as well. We will be back if we’re ever in Agra again - absolutely recommend.

Our stay at shive kothi homestay was fantastic! The rooms were impeccably clean, with comfortable beds and modern decor, and the location was perfect for exploring the city center. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, going above and beyond to answer our questions and provide helpful recommendations. Good value homestay. Our room was rather large and host provided portable heater for the cold nights. What makes this stay stand out is the family. Everyone we interacted with was so friendly and helpful. The wife is an excellent cook and both dinner and breakfast were tasty.
