We had a room on the third floor and the stairs were quite steep for my aged father. A full length mirror would help.

The location was initially difficult to find using google maps but the place is conveniently located near Munshi and Darbhanga ghats which also happen to be less crowded. The Dasheshwamedh ghat and Kashi Vishwanath temple too aren't very far away. We went during the Kumbh Mela so most of the roads were barricaded and blocked. You get a very nice view of the Ganga from their rooftop. They have a rooftop restaurant as well, didn't try it though. It was a small room with basic facilities and hot water was available. The staff know quite a few languages.

Our stay at the Shiva guesthouse in Varanasi was fantastic. The location to the Ghats was perfect and a very short walk down a quirky winding laneway. Also, a very short walk to all the winding laneways of quirky little shops selling everything from incense to kitchenware. The rooms were on the small side but more than adequate for travelers with great, comfy beds, fans and hot water. The rooftop restaurant provided fantastic Indian meals at all times of the day, even when we came back a little late one night after witnessing one of the many Hindu ceremonies that are on offer to watch down on the Ghats. We loved our stay at the Shiva Guesthouse!!!

Shower :( , were problems with hot water. The water from tap was running all time, they had no time to fix. The bed was hard. Our second room did not have any window.

Location excellent, but to find this place is not easy. This hotel suitable only for back packers, for person who do not need a lot of comfort. The host is nice person. The food in a roof restaurant is really delicious, but portion are small.

Basic amenities were missing in the room, it was arduous to reach the room on 3rd floor due to the steep steps, the hosts were a bit rude some of the time - felt like they gave more importance to foreign guests as opposed to Indians.

Nothing, actually, but remember that the streets to reach the place (the gullies) are super narrow therefore your taxi won't be able to drive you there. Better arrange a transfer through the owner.

My room was small, but cozy, with a comfortable bed, hot water always available and a lock to close the door. The location is amazing because the Ghats are right behind the corner: Munshi Ghat is the one you reach in one minute, then you have Dashashwamedh Ghat and Manikarnika Ghat in the left direction (only to name two of them), and Assi Ghat in the right direction. Shiva Guest House is named after its owner, Shiva, who is friendly and helpful. There's a small restaurant on the top floor run by the owner with amazing food and very good price, from breakfast to dinner. From the rooftop you can have a look of the city and enjoy a beautiful view of the Ganges, but beware of the monkeys!

Honestly everything was great even though I would’ve preferred a softer cushion as the one I had was a little on the hard side for me (that’s very personal)

Shiva and his brother went well beyond and above to make my stay as comfortable as possible. Always there to help and make you feel at home. Very clean place in a great location in a small alley of the old town. Lovely roof terrace where shiva and his staff can make you a very delicious breakfast and other food throughout the day. Thanks to all at shiva’s guesthouse 🙏🙏🙏

Dormitory is just near dining room, you need to cross all the dining area and go to the 2nd floor for take shower , but cheaper price
