Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThey didn't tell me that during major festival times that the roads around the hotel are closed. This made it very hard and confusing to find the hotel. Even when leaving, I understood i had booked a car through them that would pick me up from the hotel. But in fact I needed to take a pedal cab to a carpark outside of the closed off zone. They assisted me but they did not explain this when ibooked the car.
Very helpful and friendly staff, big rooms, convenient location

GermanyThe approach to the hotel is difficult as autos don't go right to the entrance. But the hotel staff was kind enough to send someone to pick us up from around 100m away.
Central location. Very easy to visit the temple and the ghats. Very friendly staff and great service. They even helped organize an incredible Ganga arti experience.

NetherlandsRestocking items at breakfast wasnt very efficient. Staff seemed to be looking for extras/tips and in doing so were a bit intrusive.
Good location if you dont wanna be fully in the old centre where you cant reach by car. Still walkable distance. Rooms spacious, ac worked. First room the card slot was broken but got upgraded to a new room so no problem. Booked activities and taxi through the hotel, which was easy though possible a bit overpriced. Breakfast was tasty.

IndiaLocation is class one if Kashi is considered. The restaurant was nice with good food quality, but the quantity is too much for solo travellers. I would request the authority to arrange for regular room cleaning/ service. Otherwise excellent stay.

Small but functional room. Great staff, good restaurant with non veg food. Off the main street so not noisy. Staff very helpful with arranging transport to airport during Kumb Mela. An oasis in the madness.

SwitzerlandStaff was not particularly friendly (as often in India) neither super professional. The road leading to the hotel from the train station was closed to traffic because of the crowd, but the staff didn't inform me of this, which made things quite confusing with tuk-tuk drivers on my arrival. Overall, quality over price ratio is not so high. For this price, one could expect a better service.
Nice location given the crowd in Varanasi end of January 2025 (better than closer to the ghats). Room was good, without being exceptionnal. Bed was confortable. Large breakfast buffet with many options (mainly indian, not continental).

United KingdomI was almost kicked out of my room due to overbooking but thank goodness it all worked out in the end!
Location was great: close enough to the ghats and main road shopping. The breakfast was satisfactory but the room and the shower!! were fantastic. If ever in Varanasi again I will definitely rebook at Shree Ganesha!

United KingdomGiven the location, the city noise - including incessant car and motorbike horns and barking dogs - seemed to be never ending and went on all through the evening and into the night. Not the hotel's fault, of course, but something to consider.
The location was great, just a 500m walk from the main Ghat, through a crowded but safe pedestrian shopping street. The reception welcome was lovely and we were given coffee, a bindi and beads upon arrival. Our room had sufficient space and was clean enough, although it might need a facelift in the not too distant future. Bathroom was a bit dark but OK. Hotel staff were all very friendly. The 1916 restaurant was where we ate breakfast and dinner both days, and the food and service were great, with sensible prices. They even had live folk music by way of entertainment, which added to the authentic atmosphere.

IndiaPremium rooms hot water - Yes the place does have automated solar water supply rather than a geyser / heater at every room. I suggest otherwise, because it causes a lot of water wasteage. In a premium room nobody looks for whether hot water is from the geyser or solar heater. The water wastage is so much it troubled my principles. Instead this water can be saved if somehow you switch. To get the hot water the initial water wastage is so much that, the number litres is approx equivalent to 2 big buckets of water 30 - 40L. If this is the same scenario in all premium rooms, I leave the calculations upto the property. Also water bottles for drinking that are provided in the rooms are very limited, 500ml per person per day. Also on the checkout day the guest should not be denied with the water bottles. The litres of water wasted in the bathroom for hot water if provided for drinking, the guests would leave happier.
Breakfast, location - Near to most of the places in Kashi.
