How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe staff were so welcoming and looked after us amazingly well. Food was fabulous, the room was really cute with extremely comfortable beds, aircon as mosquito nets. We loved gliding around the backwaters and our trip to see the local village. We checked in at 1pm and left at 10am the next day. It was the perfect length stay. We appreciated that the staff kindly arranged a few local beers for us and that there were chess and playing cards on board. It was a perfect relaxing stay.
Nothing.

Verified reviewThe staff was the best part! The navigators and chef were excellent. (Joshy, Sonal and Darwin) Their English was great, the food was amazing, the information they shared about the area was interesting. The boat was clean, there were plenty of clean linens and towels, the fresh juice and snacks were a nice perk. There crew even got a fishing pole for our son. They made our trip absolutely wonderful. The landscape is beautiful, we are so happy we got to experience this.

Verified reviewMy husband and I had a lovely experience on the houseboat with our crew (Thankaeken, Sam and Reji). They were kind, hard working and so friendly. The food was so delicious! We both agreed that it was the best series of meals that we have had in all of our travels through India. Thank you so much, this experience far exceeded our expectations ☺️ 10/ 10

Verified reviewThe houseboat itself was inspired by old houseboat designs but was quite modern and very comfortable. The staff were excellent with the cook preparing lavish feasts for us - food was exceptional! They even had binoculars for bird watching - something I didn't know I would enjoy so much. Absolutely unforgettable experience.
Can't think of anything.

Verified reviewThe highlight of our Kerela Holiday. Excellent service from all concerned. Our 3 boat staff were exceptional. Captains Joshy and Thankachan were so friendly, helpful, and informative and the chef Reji was a brilliant cook and fed us so well ( the Thali meal was the best we had in India). The converted rice barge was beautiful and comfortable ( aircon too) and they took us to loads of lovely and quiet places. Doing 2 nights is better as you see more natural places and quiet backwaters. It was also really good value and they took us to loads of places ( and on a small boat tour, to a church and cycling) and loads of food ( including afternoon tea and snacks).
Nothing - can't fault it.

Verified reviewThe boat route offers the best way to experience Alleppey. As you glide through tranquil waterways, you'll pass charming villages that provide an authentic glimpse into local life. The crew expertly navigates to a stunning spot for a breathtaking sunset, ensuring an unforgettable journey. The culinary experience on board is truly exceptional, offering flavors that are nothing short of extraordinary.
The only downside I would say is that the crew stays on the boat with you for the whole night. They sleep right outside your room, even though they are not disturbing, but it feels a little invasive.

Verified reviewWe liked everything; the two captains, the cook, the boating, the lunch and dinner. The crew was kind enough to meet my wife's request and take us for a short stroll at an island.
No so much to dislike, but more a suggestion to clarify upfront: We heared from other tourists that at Spice Coast Cruises there would be a switch to a smaller boat that sailed narrower creeks. We learned during our stay that this is true for two nights stays only.

Verified reviewVery private, with a beautiful location. You’re given plenty of time to relax alone and the staff are always on hand to help. The staff also have great knowledge of local wildlife and can point out birds on route.
The bed wasn’t very comfortable as it’s two single mattresses next to each other with a gap between them. This really should be changed to one double mattress. The hot water is very limited meaning the shower goes cold fast.

Verified reviewWonderful boat (the nicest we saw on the backwaters) and the best crew. Rooms were cosy both en suite. Food was wonderful and plentiful. Very knowledgeable captain who pointed out all the sights and birds on the way. Also loved the canoe trip exploring the smaller river ways.
We like everything, if there was one thing to maybe improve the accommodation would be to add a comfortable chair or two in the main area. If it’s raining then the outdoor lounging area is brought in and a comfy indoor chair would be a nice addition. (We had a rainy couple of days!)

Alcohol/beer to be included in the price and to have a stock on the boat, we didn't know how many beers we would want in the morning when we arrived and ended up only having one bottle, but that's only a small issue Maybe some more board games?

The boat was nice and clean and great air conditioning in the bedroom. Great staft - Kind, friendly, attentive. Loved the food thank you - lots of it and great to taste the Kerala food.
