Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IndiaA couple of things that can and should be improved. First and foremost, some furniture is old and needs replacement, especially in room furniture like a bed and sofa. It will enhance the look. Secondly, the property is apt to welcome furry friends. They should allow that which can also become a part of their business model. No changes required at all to host pets. One last thing, booking.com allows booking without any advance however, the manager called immediately after the booking asking for deposit to confirm and he also mentioned that not paying may cause last minute cancellations. This was intimidating and if due to the busy season you need confirmation, then some better way should be adopted.
Good property with very good staff who were always helpful. I had a good time in this hotel. A special call out to Manish, the staff, who helped me through and through. He woke up at 4 AM as I checked out early.

IndiaThe bedding was wet due to a leak, which was unavoidable since it is an old house. The bedding was replaced and the problem was solved. We were sometimes woken up late at night by monkeys climbing on the roof or dogs barking, but these are generally common in rural India, so they were tolerable.
Despite the small dining room, all the meals that came out were carefully prepared and all were delicious. The food was so good that it was a waste of the meals we had at other restaurants. The small garden, the common living room, and the view from the window were all wonderful. And the hospitality of the staff was heartwarming.

South AfricaSlow service in restaurant. Overcharging for a basic breakfast.
Lovely old colonial lodge in quiet garden away from the hectic rush of Shimla. Fabulous rooms, nice bathroom, limited breakfast but lovely lounge area with antique furniture. Far from shopping area and Mall Road but an easy taxi ride. Efficient laundry and taxi service. Fabulous view from garden over Himalayas.

United KingdomOur daughters room was cold and didn't get much light although they did provide electric fires The mattress on our bed felt like the one we had 27 years ago so not very comfortable The pluming really does need some investment like most of the hotel really Dining room cold and uninviting food was nothing special We had such expectations returning to a place we had stayed in for some considerable time while my husband worked for Ericsson The staff at that time couldn't do enough for us and the food was amazing This wonderful hotel has such potential with some upgrading and much needed TLC If the staff had even bothered to lite the fires it would have changed the whole ambience of the hotel
We returned to this hotel after 27years to show Shimla to our daughter. It was part of our 4 week tour of India and we chose to spend Xmas at the Springfields Which is situated a good walk from the mall in a quite area Amazingly we were allocated our old room which was wonderful. Both our room and our daughters were very spacious and comfortable Beautiful garden but furniture lacked maintenance

IndiaI think just because it is a heritage the price is a little high. But, I can understand that other heritage palaces also have the higher price. Somehow I don't feel worthy of money.
I like the view from the place. It was awesome. My room was in front of the garden and loved waking up with this awesome view. The hotel is a heritage palace, everything there was stored and preserved in a good manner.

IndiaOverall the experience was good. However, the rooms are slightly overpriced and apparently realised booking.com excludes the taxes at the time of booking.
The property was very beautiful! Aesthetic and totally takes you back in time. You'd love it if you love vintage interiors and it also has a cute garden. The place is quite easy to reach as well.

IndiaIts an old house, so things are little bit on the antique side. In fact it adds to the character of the place. However, some people may not like it.
Its an old bunglow of a erstwhile royalty which has been converted to a boutique hotel. Its a nice little cosy place with limited no. of guests. If you are looking for an unique stay experience different from cookie cutter hotel chain, this is a place to go. The staff were very courtoues specially Mr. Manohar Sharma and he took good care of our familly.

IndiaStaff was not very cordial or empathetic. The road in front of the hotel was converted into a one-way for few hours in the morning and hence our driver who came in the midnight did not get a parking facility at the premise. In the morning we had to leave at 9:30 AM and hence had to walk around 1km on a steep inclined road with luggage and kids to our vehicle and driver. When we checked for any vehicle facility from the hotel to our vehicle the front desk gave a very sarcastic reply that “Uske liye aapko ek khande aur wait karna padega”. We walked to the vehicle finally. The kitchen and service staff is courteous but front desk need some serious training on customer care and need to be more empathetic. They also need to have some back-up plan for guests when their approach road is turned into a one-way and vehicles are not allowed into the property.
A vintage property on a great location.
