A great place to stay if you want cheap and cheerful. Basic accommodation, but comfy and clean. Loved the garden and being able to sit outside on the terrace overlooking it. The bed was super comfy too. Different to other reviews, we found the WiFi too be excellent, really high speed. Super close to the beach where there were restaurants and a short walk to the little shops and more restaurants. Also very close to the main sights. It is a small fishing village, the real India... we loved seeing the cows on the beach and lots going on. Everyone we met was very friendly. We especially liked the Bob Marley Mahab on the beach for great views out to sea and Babu's restaurant. However all the food we ate everywhere was really great.

As with most Indian guest houses the bathroom/shower has no hot water tap or shelving to place toiletries. No wardrobe in room. Also, although it didn’t seem to be turned on, there appeared to be a wall camera in the room.

Basic but lovely Indian style budget seaside accommodation. Friendly helpful staff who did not invade privacy. Clean and comfortable. Beautiful garden areas. Close to a number of shops and restaurants.

Lovely colourful, clean place to stay with welcoming family staff hosts. Super location 1 minute walk from beach and close to restaurants with only short walk to historic sites. I would love to come back and stay for 2 weeks or more for a proper chill out in this relaxed sea sea community. Highly recommended :)

This is budget accommodation (for foreign travelers, at least), but we tried to choose the highest tier of "budget" (in this town, anything more expensive goes straight to Radisson Blu levels of comfort/expense) and their most expensive room. Considering this niche, there are a few very easy changes they could make that would dramatically increase guest comfort. Providing two towels for two guests (we only received one) and bedding slightly more comfortable than a single, very synthetic and irritating, probably $3-4 throw blanket (no top sheet, which is totally fine at this price point if the one blanket isn't so aggressively uncomfortable) would go a long way.

Owners/staff were very kind and the place is perfectly located. We arrived around 6:30am (booked the room for the night before, of course) and somebody was in contact with us and available to meet us and let us in even at the very inconvenient hour. Room was very clean, balcony was wonderful, and though we didn't need it in January, A/C was provided. Good, basic option in Mahabalipuram.

We arrived from chenay airport.at 23.00 The homestay sent us a taxi, & from that point it was a soft landing in India The small village, the immidiate closeness to the shore& to the fishermen boats,the walking distance to the sculpterers workshops, to the ruins near by The willingness of mudy to share with us a little of his life (so different to our's)

Brilliant place. Room much better even than the pictures. Spacious, great little balcony, comfy bed. Loo roll, extra sheets. Host lovely and perfect location right by the beach.

Location is beautiful and Madhavan was very helpful and kind. Only issue we faced was access to vegetarian food near by and coffee tea shop. We had to walk a km to get them. Rest everything was great.

No air-conditioner in 1 of the 3 rooms, only hot water in 2 of the 3 rooms.

The host was fabulous, great English and very helpful with advice. His wife did henna tattoos for us, and the location is right on the beach.

I missed a place to hang up my wet towel, and for Western guests toilet paper would be nice as well :-) for the rest, all perfect - thank you so much for this stay!

Madhavan, the hotel owner, is a really nice person who shares information about his life and his family with you, helps you wherever he can and is open and interested in his guests. And all this without being imposing or becoming too private. From the first moment on, I felt as if I was a good friend of his. Also, the guesthouse is located in an area in which many families of the lower middle class live - it felt very authentic to stay in their middle.

The seating area upstairs was not in use and they are no longer serving breakfast, but that didn’t matter to us as there are so many options for breakfast in town.

Most of all the lovely owners - felt like being welcomed by family. Close enough to hear the sea at night, rooms are super clean and comfortable. There is a laid back surfing type atmosphere, with good restaurants as well as the stunning temples and landscapes. The genuine spirituality manifests in the friendliest town in the world- can you tell I love it here!? 🙂

Very welcoming family, always available to provide any help. Room was clean and essential facilities available. The location is amazing, just few steps from the fishermens beach. We made use also of the laundry service they offer: very fast and convenient. Great value for the money.
