We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

FranceEverything was fine, thank you!
Mahizh Home is a two storey villa with two bedrooms and a shared living area on each of the floors. The ground floor was all ours for the 24 hours we stayed over. The place is airy and comfortable, with marble floors suited to the environment. But what made our short stay special is the 5 stars service delivered by Mani, the caretaker of the property. This is a cream of a person who has been really helpful in all aspects of our stay (providing accurate advance information (easy to join on WhatsApp), sending a taxi in the wee hours of the morning at the Railway station to pick us up, ordering food (dinner and breakfast and delivering it), allowing for early check-in and late check-out. Not very often in almost 50 years of travels, we have met such a kind and dedicated person. Whenever you travel to Mahabilipuram consider Mahizh Home first. Note that this villa would be ideal for friends / family groups of up to four couples.

United KingdomBathrooms were a bit grotty, but fine. Otherwise no complaints. Bring your own tea, and washing supplies.
Our host, Mani, was superb! He was so welcoming, kind and generous with his time and helped to organise taxis for us. The area was spacious and we felt very comfortable. We would recommend staying here. It was a nice quiet and safe area, with only the sounds of wildlife at night-time.

IndiaWe liked the food bur the quality could be improved and quantity was also less compared to a restaurant
Staying at Maguzh Homes felt like our home away from home. Conveniently located near tourist spots, it offered tranquility away from the noise and traffic. The proximity to a serene beach added to our delightful experience. Although the food quality and quantity could be improved, the overall experience was excellent. It's an ideal spot for a peaceful retreat, whether with pets, for a family gathering, or spending time with friends.

PolandMy only feedback I can think of is that the water pressure was a bit low - however, I've heard that it is a problem across India as a whole. I really can't think of anything else that was problematic.
The location is decent and the home is beautiful. It was even bigger and more spacious than I thought it would be. Of course, the best thing about this home is that it is a home. Mani, the host of the home is *always* available for help with anything, even by phone. He helped us with recommendations of where to go, organised tuk tuks to come and pick us up further in town, and generally is a friendly face you will see at least once a day if not more. The rooms are super stylish and comfortable. There is a lot of ventilation and AC which helps keep it cool in the home. On top of that, there is wildlife around - a frog even ventured into our room at one point (but it rest assured, it was very friendly and kept it's distance).

United KingdomNot a lot to dislike really ! The couple are relatively new to hosting but make up for it by their welcome and enthusiasm.
Mani and Vimla were excellent hosts and very helpful. Our booking was for 3 adults and we had the whole 2 bedroom flat to ourselves. Clean and air-conditioned bedrooms. Lovely breakfast. Mani said he would have a swimming pool in a year's time. That would be something to look forward to.

The place becomes home right away: spacious, calm, with all you need in very good quality and nicely decorated. The plastic covers of the mattresses mentioned in another review have been removed, the sleep was great. Location: If you want the „hustle and bustle“ of tourists and its industry all around you, this is the wrong place: you will find a quiet family stay to relax and to meet South Indian hospitality at its best - right beside the 5 Pathas temple and a 15 minutes walk away from the bus stop/center. Hospitality and service: discretion and respect as much as you like. If you want to however, you will find an open heart and - no exaggeration - be part of the family right away. We met lots of nice people, played with children, tried delicious food and learned as much about the life of locals as you can if you want to. Whatever you wish, they will try to make ends meet. The only thing you will want after saying goodby is to return the favour somehow.

IndiaBasic toiletries, towels will add to the charm.
Excellent experience. We went for a night's stay, a family of 3 adults, a kid and a dog. I finalized this place based on several google reviews and dog friendliness. I could not find the contact number on Google so searched for this place and found it on Booking. Made the booking and later got a call from the owner. It's a very spacious 2 BHK on the 1st floor with a cosy balcony, verandah and access to terrace as well. The floor is gated so we did not have to worry about our dog running downstairs disturbing the owners, yet he was able to enjoy the verandah and lobby. There is a functional kitchen which we did not need to use. They provide cutlery and plates. Zomato service is unreliable but the owner arranges food from a nearby eatery which is decent (if needed). Breakfast is included, they got us mini tiffins from A2B after confirming with us. They provide a water cooler in the house which is such a blessing as we don't have to pay for water bottles every time along with the inconvenience. All the visiting spots are 1 km away only, yet this place is aloof enough from all the crowd/noise. A secluded beach is just 1.5 kms on the other side which was also a good experience. The owners were kind and helpful at every stage. We enjoyed the sunrise in the morning from the terrace as our plans to witness it from the beach failed due to laziness. This place is a stone's throw distance away from the seashell museum which is one of the major attractions in Mahabalipuram.

IndiaThere was nothing wrong in this property. However, wash basins could have been bugger and could have been attached with mirrors. However, such a point is negligible compared to the facilities offered by them.
Wonderful experience. Rooms were big and entire first floor was ours. We felt that we were at home, not at any hotel. Landlord and landlady were extremely cordial. Landlady cooked breakfast by herself for us. They have become our family friends. I will never forget this visit.

IndiaFood options for vegan and vegetarians are limited. Same monotonous food can be overwhelming beyond a few meals. Simple home cooked food will help.
It's at the edge of town and very less population in the vicinity. You can go to patch of the same beach which is quite peaceful and clean. Literally none was there except a few fishermen.

IndiaNothing much, may be it is not a regular professional hotel or resort, one might feel the missing hospitality professionalism.
Breakfast is from a hotel which is good. The place is a home where the owner himself is the attender who along with his family is very cordial.

The property is owned by a nice family that lives in the ground floor. The best thing about the stay here was their helpful nature. The owner was kind enough to take us in his vehicle to show us the directions of the nearby attractions and the beaches that were closely and less crowded. We found that very helpful to enjoy a good time in the beach which was almost to ourselves. The property itself is (a) very quiet place, tucked inside a canopy of trees that allow our car to be parked in a nice shade within the gated compound. (b) the entire first floor was made available to us - large hall, two AC fitted, bathroom attached spacious bedrooms, a nice dining that is serviceable from the kitchen and common bathroom. All rooms are well furnished with comfy beds, sofas, chairs, dining tables in the appropriate places. Kitchen includes a stove and cutlery. While it was more than sufficient for our family of four, it can accommodate even larger families. Nearby attractions include - the 5 Rathams that are just 4 or 5 mins walk, a beach that is 5 min drive and all the other usual Mamallapuram attractions are quite closely. Special thanks to the owner and the sweet landlady (who is conversant in Kannada as well) for making our stay memorable.

IndiaThere were many things that were disappointing for our group: 1) We had booked this for 6 adults and on reaching the place we found out that there are only two beds that can accommodate a maximum of 4 adults. The hosts said they take bookings for upto 8 adults. But the catch is they charge extra 250/- per adult for bedding. Even after paying extra for the bedding because we didn't have an option, when we asked for blanket for extra 2 adults, we were only given thin bedsheets which were not comfortable and didn't serve the purpose 2) There were lizards (multiple) in the room and bathrooms and people scared of lizards were terrified 3) Although breakfast was included, they only provided fixed mini meals from A2B (a famous restaurant). Although the food is good there, it was cold as it was packed and brought. It was limited and not something we were expecting 4) The beds in both the rooms were plastic covered and were not very comfortable and made a lot of noise
There were few things which were good: 1) The hosts were good and quite friendly 2) The location was good 3) The house and rooms were clean and spacious
