Despite Shimla being romanticized as a hill station paradise, the actual beauty of its mountains and rivers often falls short of expectations. The hills, once lush and serene, are now crowded with concrete hotels and chaotic traffic, which take away the natural charm visitors come seeking. The so-called “majestic mountains” often appear hazy and dull due to over-urbanization and pollution, hardly the untouched landscapes one imagines. As for the rivers, most of them are reduced to narrow, murky streams rather than the gushing, crystal-clear waters often advertised. The flow is weak, and unfortunately, litter and plastic waste floating by is not an uncommon sight. Instead of serenity, tourists frequently encounter noise, encroachment, and the signs of over-exploitation of nature.
