All was good at times the owner could be a bit brisk with you but hey if I dealt with tourists for over 30 years I could see why.

The breakfast was excellent . The owners made sure their buffet catered to a variety of tastes- fresh juices, coffee and even home made bread!

Alba Guesthouse is so very cosy and welcoming. Harpa is THE most gracious and lovely host I’ve ever met in my travels. She was quick to welcome me and make me feel at home. She kept things very tidy and was readily available for any questions and overall an absolute delight to get to know. Also the breakfast…did I mention the breakfast?? MEGA. As a vegetarian I was super excited to have so many options and be able to enjoy my start of day meals in the beautiful sun room. My room was in the basement which I was initially skeptical about, but to my delight it got plenty of natural light through the large window that faced the front garden fence. The location is walking distance to BSI Bus Terminal and to Reykjavik town centre. It was very quiet and peaceful. Overall a lovely experience and I would highly recommend for fellow solo travellers!

House itself is quite old and it shows.I have no ideal how profitable this business it and if it would be able to finance small restoration work, but it would be definitelly nice. Also things like replacing curtsins in bathrooms could help as those are quite wear out.

Considering all the guesthouses and hotels in same price range, this one was best value for our money. The room itself was quite nice and the beds were comfortable. Room equipment was quite common, but it serve its purpose. The breakfast selections were not huge, but exactly as I would expect from this kind of family owned guesthouse, so we were satisfied. Also, the owner was regulary checking and bringing more good if needed. The owners / managers were nice.

The downstairs shower drain smelled terrible - like sulphur. Please be aware that the guesthouse policy is to remove your shoes at the entrance, and there are optional shoe racks to store them on. For security sake, I would advise that you take them to your room, as mine went literally walkabout with another guest. Only the second time in twelve years of operating that that has happened, according to the owner, but best to be safe than sorry.

The room was small but comfortable, with a sink in the room. The bed was extremely comfortable, and other guests were quiet and respectful. The downstairs shower was powerful. Breakfast was generous and varied.

There’s no grocery stores nearby, which is a bummer, so do any shopping before you come back for the evening. We also had to share the bathroom with some not so great housemates, which isn’t the property’s fault, but we found the type of traveler staying here may not be used to using shared spaces.

The host is very kind and welcoming, eager to offer recommendations and tips for Iceland. It’s located an easy walk from the bus station, so very simple for getting to/from the airport. Having a breakfast option is also great, although it’d be nice if it was available until a little later in the morning. And the walk into town is maybe 15 minutes.

Owner made comments about the amount of luggage we had, which was one per person, and short tempered when we asked for more napkins at breakfast.

Grumpy people. I dont like to be inspected while i eat. And if I would want to have 5 eggs for breakfast, i think it would be none of your business. Im on holidays, i dont want to be stressed and severely scolded because you dont want me to take a leftover sandwich in my pocket. Leave people alone.

Free parking, within reasonable walking distance of the downtown attractions. Breakfast —particularly the homemade bread—was very good.. There is a small fridge at my floor! Free instant coffee and tea from the house and a microwave to heat up my food !

I changed accommodation last minute.. and I already regretted it by the time we were at the door. We didn’t feel welcome at all. Maybe he just didn’t had his day… but it’s in general not a very welcoming place. Signs with rules everywhere. A little bit of love to the house (some paint & plants & washing the windows) will change big time.

I would have liked a tv in the room but was aware when booking that there are no tv's

The guesthouse is situated close to the bus stop and it was easy to travel with luggage from the nearest bus stop to the guest house. There was a fridge outside the room that could be used. Bathrooms were clean. It was nice to have a basin inside the room.

Waffles for breakfast was nice! They let me leave my car in their small drive/car park.
