How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe house was absolitely perfect. Spacious, comfy, with all utilities and equipment u might think of, it was built with precision and care. We lived the old-fashioned built-in furniture and the huge windows with perfect view. The location was also great, close to the town but in the middle of nowhere.
All was exeptional.

Verified reviewSuper clean, spacious, and comfortable, perfect for a big group or family! Best booking decision of my whole Iceland trip! You can tell the host really put in a lot of heart into making sure her guests feel welcome and comfortable. It was super interesting to learn about the history of this place and the host even gave us a little tour of her farm as we were leaving to see the newborn lamb. It really gave perspective into seeing what life is like in Iceland instead of just being a traveller passing by. Thank you so much, this stay was one of the highlights of our trip!!
Tank you so much for book my guesthouse. Tank you so much for kind word for the stay. You are so welcome again. I like showing around if you like. It is great that you enjoy the stay

Verified reviewThis was the perfect place to punctuate our trip midway! there’s virtually zero light-pollution at night and the area and church are steeped in history, even back to settlement. Svanhildur is welcomed us with familiar warmth and gave us a house tour to help us get oriented. The house is brimming with nostalgic details and woven together by the genuine warmth of home!
I am so happy that you enjoyed the stay. You are welcome.

Verified reviewGreat experience from start to finish. Isolated quiet farm house, yet close enough to the road and a great starting point to golden circle and Sneafellsens. The house is very clean and well kept, kitchen is equipped with everything you need and more. Beds and bedding comfortable and owner is very attentive and friendly. Highly recommend!

Kitchen interesting; presumably the original farmhouse kitchen, so good to see but a little tired. Fully functional though and well equipped.

Verified reviewEverything. This place is so beautiful and peaceful. It’s really special and we feel so lucky to have found it. In addition to spacious, comfortable living space, the views and property are extraordinary. The house is set back 1.7 miles from the road. My son went running one morning and encountered a small herd of horses. You can see views of the glacier. Sunrise and sunset are magnificent. The owner was lovely and responsive to questions. Kitchen was well equipped and we recommend stopping off in Borgarnes to get groceries—it’s about a 20 minute drive.
That we hadn’t booked a longer stay!
Thank you so much for the stay and I am really happy you like the stay. You are welcome when ever again.

Verified reviewWe loved the farm guesthouse. It is on a lovely farm property and we enjoyed watching the sheep on the property while we ate our meals and talked about our adventures. The hosts were absolutely lovely and showed us around the farm and shared some of the history of the area. The location was perfect to stay before and after exploring the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. Would definitely recommend!

Verified reviewHost was very responsive and nice. We were able to see the northern lights in the back of the house! Having a laundry machine was helpful since we were travelling with 2 kids.
Beds are a bit stiff but otherwise the stay was great.

Verified reviewThis was the last accomodation during our trip through Iceland, we spent three nights here and it was perfect to calm down and relax after an exhausting journey. We were two couples and the house was easily big enough for us, it is well suited for way bigger groups. There are two very new and stylish bathrooms and the bedrooms feel new as well. Everything felt super clean and the huge kitchen was well equipped. The location is great to explore the Snæfellsnes peninsula in a day trip or visit the Bifröst area and much more. Our host was very friendly and helpful and provided us with lots of information on what to do in the area and even invited us to visit them when they were gathering the sheep. A very special treat for me was that I was able to see the northern lights easily from just behind the house. Of course you still need luck with the weather but the farm is in a very dark environment with only very little light pollution, so you can easily spot the northern lights if they occur(For the stargazing enthusiasts: this is a Bortle 3 or maybe even Bortle 2 class area!). You even get the best angle from the kitchen so you don't have to spend the entire night outside freezing and waiting for them, just wait inside until it's worth going outside. I took some amazing pictures here, just behind the house without much effort. I am very happy with this accomodation as the finale of our trip!
- the kitchen feels dated - the living room with the TV is more like a hallway, we didn't spend any time there
