How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewRoom was clean and modern. TV was our biggest complaint . It was raining when we got there so we couldn’t go for walks or anything. We couldn’t get anything on the TV. Better instructions would have been a big help. Also, I tried to call the hotel restaurant from my mobile phone in our room and had the hardest time reaching the restaurant. The lady who answered the contact number wouldn’t transfer me but gave me an 8 digit number that didn’t work. I had to dress and walk to restaurant desk to make a reservation. Other than those 2 things, we loved the ocean view from our room windows in the morning and a lovely walk. Very clean room and nice shower .

Verified reviewThis is not bad for a place to sleep, it is clean, rather spacious and the beds are fine.
This is quite „industrial“ - it isn’t really a hotel, rather a motel of sorts with container-like cabins in a row from the reception. It is totally okay but not super nice. For a weekend getaway we probably should have gone elsewhere. BEWARE Of THE RESTAURANT: I paid almost ISK 4.000 (EUR 28) for a “rich and creamy soup with seafood” which turned out to be (quite tasty) fish broth with only three tiny slivers of probably crab meat. When alerted to this, the very friendly waitress thanked me for my honesty, which was nice but a bit puzzling. Not the dinner I had envisioned but, luckily, I had a bag of popcorn in my room so I survived ;)

Breakfast is way too expensive for what’s available. Also the breakfast staff not very friendly. Reception was great. The bathroom had hair in it from previous guests and the floor was t very clean. I have a crawling baby so I spend a lot of time in the floor. Also, I confirmed a baby crib but it was forgotten. When I told reception they organized but since it was raining everything was wet. Also, the lack of hot water is also ridiculous. You pay a lot and then on checkin they tell you “sorry, you will have hot water for 30min” your in a family room so probably have 4 people that need to shoo wet. This should be mentioned before hand.

Hot water was barely luke warm . We were advised that this was a cold part of Iceland & that the HW was only sufficient to last 20 mins before needing time to re-heat, but it wasn't at hot at all. Warm enough to have a very quick shower, but no risk of it being anywhere near 20 mins, or even 5!

This is not a hotel but more a vacation park, rooms are in separate buildings, which kind of make the whole town. There is very limited things to offer there, no supermarket and 3 places to eat. The rooms are clean but basic especially if you compare it to the price

The angry birds so many near there and they protect the Kria who had a nest and babies by the door of our hotel which made the front door impassible at times. It was humorous but nerve wracking 🤪🐦⬛

Verified reviewThe hotel was built on top of a nesting ground for the arctic tern which meant the birds were stressed out about people being around and constantly attacking everyone aggressively. They were extremely noisy and kept us awake all night since we had no choice but to keep the windows open as the room was unbearably hot!!! No aircon and only 1 little window that opens. We paid US$475 for a very basic motel room with supposed Seaview that you can’t see due to a large grassy dirt mound in front of windows where the birds nest.Probably our worst stay in the entire 2 weeks we were in Iceland. Breakfast doesn’t start until 8 am- no chance of getting even a cup of coffee before then and the breakfast is very very basic. I’m writing this after just 3 hours sleep on my way to the airport to catch a flight and I’m really not happy with our last night’s stay and feel cheated….
