How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The location is a little far out of town if you are only there to see the city. We had the luxury of a car so this did not affect us too much.
Toiletries and washing up items were provided. There was a laundry, although we did not need to use it. It was clean and well thought out, with good storage for a short stay.

No spaces in the room to put clothes and belongings. Didn’t like the shower curtain as it sticks to you when trying to wash.
Very comfortable bed, room comfortable temperature, all very clean including corridors and lifts. Great kitchenette with good sized fridge. Nice toiletries. Good location for exploring the area with handy Netto nearby for shopping.

Smallish room. Windows filthy which ruined the view.
Near most attractions in Reykjavik. Not walking distance but 4-5 minutes by car. After 7 days traveling it was nice to have a laundry (2 washers, 2 dryers) but not free. Comfortable. Entry direction easy to follow.

The shower stall is ridiculously small. Anyone over 185 lbs would find it difficult to get in and out of the glass shower door openings. We were under the impression the luggage storage was a secured place but anyone can access your luggage. Very disappointing.

The location was a bit further out than I thought. It would have been nice to have salt/ pepper for cooking and sugar for coffee.
The luggage storage was great plus it came at a decent price for Iceland. We were also able to walk to a grocery store in 5 minutes.

Couldn't regulate the temperature in the room, very hot for the temperature outside.
The room was good, so happy to have a fridge and cooking and near a great bakery, grocery store.

I was expecting the apartment to have salt and pepper based on my.previpus experience staying in apartments. Please consider this addition which would definitely help travellers like us.
No contact checking was pretty smooth. Apartment was clean and had instructions written 9n WiFi and trash disposal.

The host it system got hacked and we got various messages via booking.com messages over multiple days - even after the stay - trying to steal credit card information
Nice location with the car - quick in city, at shops and out of town / spacious for the family / free parking

The step up to the bathroom was a little treacherous. There was a slight odor that seemed to be from Indian food that was perhaps cooked there before. The shower was a bit small and didn't have a shelf or try for razors, personal soaps, etc. The lighting in bathroom not great. Would be nice if check-in could be at least 2pm rather than 3. I thought it would be closer to the main streets for walking - but not quite as walkable as the description indicated.
Entry was all based on door codes which were sent to us in a timely manner in advance of stay. Oddly we never had to use the front door code to enter, it was always open. As Reykjavik is a safe city, I suppose this isn't a problem. The apartment was a decent size for two people and the beds were comfy. The kitchen equipment was basic, but enough. The shampoo and soap and conditioner supplied in bathroom was nice. Parking was always available and easy. Nice that it was next to a gas station and a bakery. Easy to navigate to and get in and out of city.

Only pillows should be better quality and we could not find any recycling bins .
Location and room are amazing . I think that the local swimming pools and shops location should be more adversities maybe in reservation email.

The bathroom had an awful smell. Didn’t matter if we let the door open. The kitchen could’ve been equipped with at least one knife to cut stuff.
