Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThe surrounding is not clean . If you have big luggage , the stairs can be a challenge . Internet WiFi is very slow ..The layout of the house is weird but no complains on that .
Location was great . It was in the heart of the city and key points , good restaurants were all in walkable distance .

United StatesThere's not much to be done about the layout of the apartment, but it is definitely weird. It is necessary to go through the bathroom OR through BOTH bedrooms to get to the kitchen. The bedrooms were side by side, with a connecting door. The whole layout was a little unwieldy for two couples.
The location could not be beat. We were right near the center of activity in Reykjavik, yet just far enough from the main drag for it to be quiet. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well-stocked.

United KingdomThe apartment was great, really central location, very clean and comfortable, we got loads of useful information before we arrived about places to eat and visit in the local area (as well as our actual check-in details) and an offer from the host to help us get discounts at some local places if needed. The only reason I didn't rate it a 10 is because we didn't realise one bedroom is positioned so that you either have to walk through another bedroom to access it, or go out of the apartment and back in again through a separate door, but this is a very minor thing - would highly recommend this apartment if you're staying in Reykjavik

BrazilThe weird part, for us, is that the toilet is in the middle of the house and you can access trough the kitchen or the living room. When arriving we tough we didn't have a kitchen cause it is between the toilet and another room, so the distribution of the house is a little weird but you get used to it. On Friday, our last day, the apartment above us made a lot of noise which was uncomfortable. They were walking a loooot during the night and woke me up several times but this was the only day it bothered.
The localization of the apartment was superb, right in city center and close to everything: supermarket, stores, restaurants. The apartment is super comfortable, warm enough and the beds as nice to sleep. Even the room being close to the street it was very quite to sleep. The access was easy to find and to enter at the house. It's nice and important, specially during winter, to have a space to enter and take off the boots like they do. The kitchen is well equiped and easy to cook on it.

SwedenThe apartment is very centrally located, super close to everything, so you can walk everywhere basically. The owner helped in everything, if we had a request for new sponges, toilet papers, they got those very quickly for us. However, we never got a reply here, on Booking, which was a bit odd. Also, the bathroom's ceiling was pretty mouldy, that made the stay a little uncomfortable, but generally quite comfortable place.

United KingdomThe layout of the property, having to go through the bathroom or two bedrooms to reach the kitchen was not appealing. We were two couples sharing and this was not ideal. Property needed a little TLC, doors very awkward to open, shower broke, threshold between kitchen and bathroom needed attention, too much furniture in living room making it feel smaller than what it was. The property itself is lovely but with a little TLC it could be amazing.
Fabulous location, warm and comfortable.

United KingdomThe room arrangement is a little odd. For example, you cannot get to the kitchen from the sitting room without going through the bathroom. We were four adults, a couple and two friends. So we had to announce when we were using the bathroom (the locks need replacing) so others could get to kitchen or their bedroom if they needed something. We also had an unfortunate welcome when we arrived after a very long drive from Myvatn to find the apartment had not been cleaned and the linens not changed. We managed to contact the manager and she sent the cleaners who arrived quickly. But after they left we found they had cleared out the fridge and taken all the food and drinks for our supper. Another frantic phone call and all items were returned. There were overflowing bins to the rear of the apartment - not sure whose responsibility they are.
This is an apartment in an old house in central Reykjavik, close to the historic areas, shops and restaurants. The house retains some nice period features although some of the amenities are basic. The sitting room is very comfortable with good seating for four adults. There is some chargeable parking near by. We did enjoy our stay - the convenient historic location made up for the issues we had.

United StatesThe circular layout is somewhat inconvenient, as one must pass through the bathroom or through both bedrooms to reach the kitchen. If someone is in the bathroom the folks in the back bedroom either have to stay there until the bathroom is free or pass through the front bedroom. It was okay, but not great.
We enjoyed the convenient location although it was sometimes loud at night. Maybe I should have anticipated this from the close in location…but this was our first trip to Reykjavik. Having a living-room and kitchen for 2 couples was great. The kitchen was well equipped.

CanadaSmall thing…the view out one bedroom was a courtyard where the garbage bins are and they were overflowing. Not sure how often they are cleared?

United KingdomHaving said all that, there are some issues regarding the facilities themselves. The apartment requires some love and maintenance. Wiring and fire alarms need checking. General clean and maintenance. Towel rail was hanging off the wall. The kitchen is almost there. Good pots, pans, plates and bowls. Although the kitchen is small and washing up is certainly a challenge. We placed a tea towel on the table and placed washed items onto that. However, the following were missing. Decent kitchen utensils for cooking. No chopping board. No tin opener. No vegetable knives. No colander or safe means of draining of water from the pans. Lastly no oven gloves. I had to make do with using tea towels and burnt myself while taking out food from the oven. I would have bought the missing items but had no clue where I would find them to buy. Lastly the TV didn't work. I had told the host of the issues with maintenance and he did offer to send someone round. We declined as we didn't want to be disturbed. I later followed up with another message to say the TV didn't work. We didn't get a response. There is a washing machine, iron and ironing board. We didn't use the washing machine. But the iron was in good working order.
Brilliant location very comfortable little apartment. It's near the high street so it can be a bit noisy but we found it fine. The layout is quirky but we quickly established how it would function and we had no issues. The property is laid out in a circle. So if you come in through the front door into the entranceway and go round in a clockwise direction. You first enter the lounge, then bathroom, then kitchen. Bedroom one and then bedroom two. Then back into the entrance way. You pass through a room in order to get to the next. People saying that you can't have privacy in the bedrooms because they are linked. But we found you could. My husband and myself stayed in one room and our daughter and her partner in the other. We didn't go into one another's rooms at all. We entered our room via the kitchen. They entered theirs via the entranceway When anyone was in the bathroom we simply shut the doors and opened them when not occupied. You do have to go through the bathroom to get to the lounge but we simply are in the kitchen. Don't be put off by the layout. It's fine if you take a little time to understand how to use it.

United KingdomQuite small but perfectly fine for a family of four. Quirky layout - you have to walk through bathroom to get to kitchen (old building so not much can be done). The bins hadn't been emptied when we arrived, with bathroom bin stuffed with nappies - reason for lower cleanliness score.
Nice wee apartment in an amazing location in central Reykjavik. Made walking around so easy. Close to a supermarket and P3 parking is only 5 minutes walk so pretty cheap to park there (avoid parking right by the apartment as that's quite expensive). The apartment is so warm too, with plenty hot water.
