How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Self check-in is always a bit challenging as there’s no one to speak directly with.
The location near the bus stop was perfect for us.

Excellent location right in town centre. Sofa bed was a bit small for 2 teenagers to share.

The internet was terrible. The hosts said they'd try and fix it but it never worked properly. When sitting on the toilet, you need to sit sideways or your knees are smashed into the door.
Great location, check in / out was very easy. Clean room with nice shower and beds.

sofa bed very uncomfortable. My 22 year old son slept bad. No basic condiments ( not even salt). Would stay again but only if two people.
Location right in center, apartment clean and equipped. Bed in the bedroom was comfortable and soft sheets. Window right beside so we were able to open it and not get overheated. We did not have any issues with the noise and were on third floor.

The downside is the soundproofing is not good, especially the nosie from upstair.
The price is really affordable considering the room size, and location.

Was a bit hard to get to driving, google maps kept leading us down pedestrian only roads.
It is right on the main street. Greta location, super clean and comfortable.

It was indeed quite loud from the square outside as well as from the other rooms. We heard the neighbour snorring all night…
Great location with parking nearby. Many Restaurants and cafes around the corner. Comfortable bed, nice bathroom.

We already knew that the room is small but there was no way 2 suitcases to fit in the room or even a small shelf to put your phone while charging. Also we didn't find any shower gel or shampoo.
Nice location and clean. We liked that there was a Nespresso Machine and some capsules.

Excellent property. But the lack of elevator was a definite inconvenience. Lugging the cases to the 4th floor and no onsite parking.

One of the rooms we booked this time was economical room which was pretty small. People who bring large suitcases should have a second thought cuz you might run out of walking space. Wish it could be bigger:)
Clean environment and perfect location which it sat right next to the main shopping area in Akureyri. Enjoy the bed as well and we all really had a good night sleep.

Parking is not available - on weekends public parking (which is close) is free but not during working days. Unfortunately, room is quite tiny. There is no common kitchen - no fridge or microwave or dishes (apart from 2 mugs in the room). Access may be problematic for elderly or disabled people
Apartment is in the center of Akureyri and room and private bathroom were clean and nice. In the room there was also a kettle and coffee maker. We did not have issue with bugs (there is some bad and old review about room 303).

We were on the back of the building, 3rd floor and the room was very hot when we checked in. We booked in January and stayed in May, a front room would have been better.
Location was great, you can walk anywhere from there. Room was very clean.

The toilet's location is tight for long legged people as the bathroom is small and you face the door, so awkward to fit in with the door closed if you want some privacy. Otherwise all excellent.
Location was perfect with a parking lot just a few steps away. Room was large enough for 2 friends to share the space comfortably. the bathroom is a tad too small but all clean and in perfect functioning order. The overall experience was great, highly recommend.

Because it is in downtown, it was very noisy with people partying on the street until 3:00 am, so it was not a good night of sleep. Bathroom was tiny, although super clean.
