Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe property was amazing and their views from the windows where spectacular. Would be nice to see some more people in the village but hopefully it will happen one day soon.
We like the uniqueness about this property. The property is amazing, spacious and very warm. Lovely to sit in the armchair watching the snow falling outside.

AustraliaThis is only a timing issue but because we stayed there not long after the roads were reopened after the most recent lava flow, Grindavík was like a ghost town because so many are still unable to come back to their houses. Nothing was open, and we had to go into Keflavik to even get food. This would have been good to know beforehand so we could’ve picked something up before checking in. Luckily we had a car but if we’d gotten a taxi, we would have to get another one just to get food. Once the town is reopen fully, this would be the most amazing place we stayed on a month in Scandinavia and Iceland
This was an amazing, unique stay.

ThailandWe had a great stay overall. The third floor (kitchen and living room) is spacious, cozy, and offers stunning panoramic views. We even saw the Aurora from there, which was a highlight. However, the downstairs area felt a bit small, especially for storing our six large pieces of luggage. The narrow, steep stairs made it difficult to carry them up to the bedrooms, so we had to leave everything downstairs. The property has two bedrooms—one downstairs and one on the second floor—and two toilets (one downstairs and one in the upstairs bedroom), which was convenient for our group. All the rooms are clean. The host was fantastic—responsive, and very supportive. The location is ideal, with easy access to the Blue Lagoon. Papa's restaurant, highly recommended by the host, was excellent; we loved the cod and pizza.

South AfricaIt had only one shower and it was broken, so we couldn’t use it. We were told only when we arrived, which was unfortunate, as we had a long trip and we couldn’t use the shower. The living room and kitchen were in the third floor, only accessible by stairs, which is inconvenient if you have kids or elderly people in the group. Not good value for money. It was the more expensive stay in our trip to Iceland and not the best.
Close to Blue Lagoon, which was our plan for the night we stayed here. Beautiful views from the house. Clean and it had all the facilities/amenities needed. Host was waiting for us near the airport to take us to the house.

Switzerlandcleaning wasnt bad but might be improved (e.g. the kitchen), the coffe machine wasnt working or we didnt find the way to make it work, in that case a 2 lines instructions for guests might be helpfull, 3rd and last 2-3 windows had glasses not broken but chipped for some centimeters or half a meter, this might be related to stones or heavy wind debris. not a functional problem of course, but for the average price per night this kind of basic things must be fixed
position 3 level equipment layout cozyness

United KingdomIt was very warm and we had to open windows which is not a complaint it just goes against the grain. I'd loved to have had a thermostat to turn the heating down but I appreciate these are not common in Iceland.
Loved the open plan top floor and the ever-changing views.

United KingdomWill be great when the town reopens. Of course it’s understandable that this isn’t the case right now. Would suggest shopping in Keflavík or Selfoss depending on which way you travel before arriving but even if you don’t Keflavík is only 30 minutes away.
Outstanding property - has everything you need with fantastic views.

United Statesthe stairs were narrow and steep and had no handrail. this combined with the fact that you had to go up and down because of the layout made it an exhausting place to stay. the lighting in the bathrooms was not good, no counter space. no place to sit to take off / put on shoes in the entry hall. getting charged a 250 euro cash early check in fee when the house wasn’t even rented the day before seems unreasonable.
the views were lovely and the top floor living space was spacious and nice

United Statessteep stairs, so fair warning for kiddos. ours (4 and 6) were fine but I did have to remind them to slow down a few times. a few glasses that are a bit more stable / not glass would be nice!

AustraliaThe rooms were not well ventilated and it was overly hot to sleep. There was a small window which we tried to open but it was raining and windy. The second bedroom was too small and did not have bedside tables or lights; data/wifi didn't work in the bedroom.
