We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Greece100% recommended. It was very comfortable for 4 persons (it was an apartment) and warm. Everything was exactly like the pictures. 1 hour away from reykjavik with a car, much stuff very close to see, the jacuzzi was amazing and it was pretty quiet. Also a very good place to see the northern lights!

SlovakiaUnusable hot tub due to high water temperature. Dust under the beds and in the closet. We would appreciate a microwave, more storage space and a tea pot.
The cottage is very cosy. We praise blackout blinds. We appreciate the refrigerator, grill, cottage style, wifi, playground, quiet and nice environment. We appreciate the presence of a dishwasher and tablets for it.

United KingdomYou need to stock up on essentials milk food etc before getting there.
Remote location but very close approx...15 mins away from all the beauty spots such as the Secret lagoon and Gulfoss and the Tomato farm plus moree. Great restaurant serving the farms beef and icecream overlooking the dairy cows in their shed. 3 bedrooms, Great views. The hot tub is filled with natural geothermal water but no jets. The drive back to the airport was stunning, through a national park and you see the Tectonic plate.

GermanyWe have never seen such a poorly equipped and lovelessly furnished cottage as this one. Unfortunately it was not clean and it is not advisable to look in the corners. The kitchen cupboards had a greasy surface and it looked like it hadn't been cleaned. This is a real shame as it could be a hidden treasure if a little effort was made. Although there was a whole cupboard full of cleaning products, they don't seem to be used. The toaster didn't work either - you had to be careful as it didn't switch itself off. There was a row of burnt toast. In addition we fail to find for example instructions e.g. for the Barbecue Grill, the TV or the Hot Tub (must be the existing chlorine tablets used?). Unfortunately, there was also some equipment missing in the kitchen. Iceland is very expensive and we wanted to make pasta one evening. However, there was no large pot (only two small ones were available) and we had to cook in two steps. There were the corpses of some insects on the windowsill. The windows were very dirty, which would have been a waste of effort due to the dust from outside. A handle on the sideboard was also missing. The bathroom was functional - but an update would be necessary. As well the web instruction showed was not correct, too. The surface of the dining table was also damaged and the leather couch and carpet also needed to be deeply cleaned. That was really a mass and we can't understand why the existing potential is not being utilised.
Iceland is a wonderful country and the nature is incredible. We have never seen such a beautiful place like this one. We had spent one week in the cottage which is assumedly longer than other guests had done. It is very quiet and relaxing at the same time. The internet is stable and we must say better than at home no matter where you go. All kinds of streaming services are offered on TV. Two times we ate in their restaurant and we were served with a good quality of food . The ice - cream is delicious and you can look into the stable seeing the cows. Petting of the animals is not allowed which is perfect showing the respect to their animals. We spent our holiday with a family of friends who had rented the cottage of the same design. As they were right next to each other, it was a perfect fit. We could easily reach all the hot spots of the Golden Circle from there. Unfortunately they only offer horse rides during summer seasons but they recommended us a horse stable in the neighbourhood (Geysir Hestar) which was a wonderful experience and which we would highly recommended to anyone. The beds were comfortable. We got two times fresh towels and coffee for free - this was perfect. Thank you.

GermanyNot clean at all. Everything was a little filthy and very dirty. Had to clean everything myself upon arrival. A little disgusting. Dirty kitchen cabins, table, chairs and bathroom. Dirty toilet. No water pressure in the bathroom. And I mean almost no water in the sink. Not well equipped kitchen. Bunk bed in one room not for adults suitable as it is very shaky. Could be a very nice place if a little more well maintained. Not a very friendly staff.
We stayed in cottage No2 for 7 days as a family of 5. Check in with safe for key. Very private. Good location on the golden circle. Comfortable beds. TV with streaming channels. Private hot tub.

GermanyThe hot pot, the Icelandic version of a Jacuzzi was not cleaned when we arrived. The water was dirty. The pool was dirty. The water was cold. There were bugs in and around the pool. There was a cigarette filter in the pool. On my complaint, the hot tub was cleaned the next day. However, the water was still cold. A hot pot should be at least approx. 38 degrees Celsius, not the temperature of a swimming pool in a warm country. The hot pot was not usable during our stay. The dishes were not cleaned properly. The towels were not freshly washed. They had an unpleasant smell. We know that in Iceland the water sometimes has a certain smell due to the geothermal situation. We can differentiate that. The towels were just not freshly washed. In one bedroom the heating could not be turned off completely. This meant that it was too warm to sleep. We had to move to the other bedroom. The kettle and coffee maker still had water in them from the previous tenants when we arrived. The dishes were not cleaned properly, when we arrived. The house is partially renovated. However, the description on booking.com, especially the pictures, give the impression that the house is new. This is definitely wrong. Our expectations were not met. The house is not cheap even by Icelandic standards. The landlords responded to my complaint quickly and politely. However, it must be said that the whole accommodation is neglected. Perhaps this is because the summer season in Iceland is coming to an end and the motivation is gone. However, the rental price for this house in this condition was definitely unreasonable. We would not book this accommodation again.
The accommodation consists of one of two wooden houses next to each other. However, there is good privacy. It is located on the property of the Farm "Efsti Dalur". The location is very good. All the tourist highlights of the south and west of Iceland are within easy reach. You can also reach the western highlands quickly via road No. 35. The drive from Kevlavik airport to the accommodation takes about 2 hours. There is a beautiful view over the country. On a clear day, you can see Mount Hekla. The location is quiet, as is usually the case in the Icelandic countryside.

IcelandWe were the first tenants and apparently not everything was ready. Upon arrival the hot tub was dirty, the TV remote was missing, there was no coffee maker in the house, no BBQ, no hair dryer, no mattress in lower bunk and the outdoor area is not safe for small children. The baby chair was soaking wet and leaking. We found some screws and nails and the childrens ball got lost under the platform a few times. When checking out, we didn't know where to throw the trash, but according to the information in the house, there should be containers close to the house. We drove around the area with the trash bags but could not find any container but ended up at the front desk to ask and were told that the containers had not arrived and we could leave all the trash outside the house. To be fair, the staff always responded quickly and provided the items that were missing. But it was quite tiring to have to call the reception desk 7 times. We talked about this at the front desk and were offered a gift certificate as compensation, but we admit that we expected more than a gift certificate worth about $100, which is less than half of the cost of one night
Beautiful countryside and many beautiful things around. The house is beautifully furnished and beds were comfortable.
