Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesI had a standard single in upper floor under the eaves so found myself hitting my head against the sloping ceiling. I'd recommend going for superior room if possible.
Cute and comfortable guesthouse with private bath and great breakfast. Shower was powerful and hot. WiFi worked well. Staff was excellent and helpful. Parking right outside. Small town so not a lot of other facilities but a couple of nearby restaurants served evening meal.

United StatesBe prepared for a small room. Room 2 is just off the breakfast/reception/bar so can get loud. This was only an issue when a very loud (albeit happy- she kept laughing, loudly) guest checked out at 7:15am.
Wonderful location, cozy room. The bar/breakfast area was welcoming. Chris, on staff when we checked in, was super helpful. He had a great recommendation for the fish and chips food truck just down the road. It was fabulous!

NetherlandsVery small room - I requested a twin room but was given a double instead. Hardly any space for your luggage. My son and I are both 6.4ft tall so we both struggled.
Perfect location - very friendly and helpful staff. Free coffee and tea available at the reception area. Nice breakfast for which you had to pay extra.

United StatesHótel Egilsen was the smallest hotel I stayed at in Iceland, but it was by far the most enchanting! With only 10 rooms, booking a stay here feels like finding a hidden treasure. From the moment you step into the lobby, greeted warmly by Chris, you're transported to another time—it's like stepping into a time capsule. The soft oldies music playing in the background added to the charm, and the little library was a delightful touch (I even found myself reading Arabian Nights). My room, though small, was a perfect blend of quaint and modern, cozy and comfortable. The shower pressure was divine! The next morning, the ladies at the hotel had a delicious breakfast spread waiting for me. This is the kind of hotel you wish you could return to time and time again. I’m already looking forward to my next trip to Stykkishólmur and staying here while exploring the Snæfellsnes Peninsula.

United StatesWe needed to reserve a time for breakfast. The room was on the second floor. No elevator. They will help with luggage if you ask. The hotel needs a better sign! We had trouble figuring out where it was!
A quaint hotel in an old home. The woman at the desk made us feel welcome. She was extremely helpful and was able to answer our questions about the area. The breakfast was served to each table and not a buffet. It was yummy. Very comfortable hotel in a great location for the ferry to the Westfjords.

United Stateswish we had stayed longer
The person who checked us in was exceptionally helpful and checked nearby places availability for dinner for us & made suggestions for another place. She also helped with breakfast arrangements. We were told the rooms were small, but it fit us very well & the extra mattress was not in the way, as it is in some hotels. Rooms were very efficient.
