Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

PolandThe walls between the rooms are pretty thin, we could hear everything the couple in the other room was talking about. The only thing that might have made our stay better would be being able to check out a bit later like 11am instead of 10am as it was in most guesthouses we stayed at.
Our room had a great view over the mountains. There were power outlets and a little shelf right above the bed, so very convenient. The kitchen was equipped with everything you might need along with tea and coffee.

IcelandThe house is old and has an unpleasant permanent smell. The bed sheets were never ironed. The environment is just nusty and gloomy, the only pleasant thing is the funny, nice franch woman.
The owner of the house is just a funny, nice woman.

United StatesLoved the fact that we were able to see the Northern Lights from our room. The hostess was incredibly accommodating and went out of her way to reassure us when we expected to arrive fairly late in the evening.

LatviaSoundproofing in bedrooms - although in old buildings like these it's a common issue and there is probably nothing they can do about it. It's just how it is and actually adds to old house charm. Just not the best choice if you want quiet. We heard everything our neighbors were doing :)) Common kitchen area was great and well equipped, but smelled SO bad (maybe compost?), that we simply couldn't use it.
Very nice old Icelandic house with a few private bedrooms, shared everything else. Great view! Room was super clean and comfy. Bathrooms/toilet were great too. Loved that there were tons of boardgames!

United StatesFlateyri Guesthouse is a modern home in an old Icelandic house, beautifully appointed, with very comfortable beds, a great kitchen, and cozy living areas upstairs and down. There are many excellent books and games, hard to put down! Stephanie, our host, made us feel at home. We had a great time!

United StatesThere was no breakfast. I could not open a link in an email sent to me prior to arrival. I wrote an email upon arrival to the woman in charge asking about breakfast. The answer to the question probably was in the link that was inaccessible. The email was never answered. They drain for the shower did not work appropriately.
It was very clean. The mattress was quite comfortable. Access to the kitchen and the living room were much appreciated.

United KingdomLeaving....
A place with style and a well filled library - much like the village of Flateyri it was super comfortable, interesting and the perfect place to stop. The beds were great and together with a hot bath gave us a fab night's sleep. Well equipped kitchen, sitting room to relax in. Bliss! But above all a friendly host who has really thought about what travellers need. Our best indoors place to stay in Iceland. Thank you!!

United StatesOur stay was wonderful! The location and the amenities at the guesthouse were more than we could have asked for. From the view of fjords and blue waters to a beautifully furnished home - we felt right at home. The town of Flateyri is gorgeous, sleepy, and atmospheric. It is located right at the foothills of the fjord and serves as a perfect location to explore Icelandic Westfjords. We ate at the cafe (which even had vegan items on the menu), visited the old bookstore for souvenirs and some reading materials, shopped in a local grocery store and strolled the quiet streets. The guesthouse itself was clean, tastefully decorated, comfortable, and warm. It even had heated floors! We fell in love with the huge modern bath tub and the most comfortable bed. Stephanie, our host, is top notch, attentive, friendly and all around a wonderful human being. She even offered us a thermos and binoculars as we headed out to spot some local wildlife on our hike! Kind and thoughtful! In addition, we got so many tips from her about the area.

United StatesNo breakfast, price, cancelation policy, not enough beds
We booked a room with 2 beds (and paid well beyond other properties that offered breakfast too) and got a room with only one bed. The private bathroom was not in the room. We got to this place with a Google search for bed and breakfast - but realized post biking there was no breakfast. Owner did not agree to let us cancel, but also did not provide breakfast. Overall, place was very clean and comfortable, but we definitely didn't feel at home. We meet the host in our last morning and she seemed nice.
