Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NorwayThe only thing I missed was the possibility to boil water for tea or coffee.
The location was fantastic, and check-in/check-out were very easy, with all the necessary information provided in advance. The room was spacious, comfortable, and nicely furnished. The shared bathroom setup in practice meant two large bathrooms for four rooms—no queues at all.

United KingdomI didn't see in the instructions how/ where to use the code to enter the building. There were about 4 doors around. I was lucky that coming in, someone opened the door for me and explained the mechanism. I have never seen such thing that the number display was under the door handle, which lightens up once you run your hand under the door handle. Maybe it is obvious for some travellers, but it wasn't obvious for me and some other guests too.
The room was very small but big enough for one person for a couple of nights. The room, 2 bathrooms with the toilet on the floor were very clean. I saw a kitchen with a spacious seating area, but I didn't use it. The accommodation was closed to the city centre.

United StatesOnly one small downside based on my personal preferences, which was the traffic noise from the road. I used headphones and it completely fixed the issue.
Nice location away from tourist noise, but still very walkable to major downtown locations. The hosts were very accommodating and friendly! I would book this again next time I'm in Reykjavik.

United StatesThe communal coffee maker was dismal, and could easily be improved!
Loved the included breakfast and the spaciousness of the room. Sharing a bathroom was not a problem because there were 2 bathrooms for 4 rooms. The location was great for walking to neighborhoods in many directions. Also, it is close to a huge stunning park, and a neighborhood swimming pool with many hot tubs!

CroatiaThere is no usual breakfast but rather you get a breakfast bag delivered to you in the morning, on the door knob. Unfortunately, I don’t believe the breakfast is worth the price: croissant, bagel, little butter and marmelade, one small slice of cheese, small juice and fruit. It was okay all in all, but I expected something else and I wish it was written somewhere in advance, before booking, because included breakfast was the big part of choosing the accommmodation.
My room was small, but it had everything I needed. It was very tidy and it smelled great when I arrived. They also left a little light on in there so it was a really cosy feeling. I shared a bathroom with people from 4 other rooms but I didn’t have to wait to use the bathroom and the bathroom was very clean, there was extra toilet paper. The bus stop for Mjodd is 1 min away from the accommodation.

IcelandThe common kitchen/dining area in adjacent building had been left in a poor state by other guests - sink full of dirty plates, cups and other items. Not the guesthouse’s fault though, but maybe needs to be better monitored.
The bed was very comfortable so I got a good night’s sleep. In an easy walking distance from BSI coach station, and has as well bus stops directly outside with buses running to Center and Mjódd. There was a small wash basin in the room, which I appreciated. A safe luggage area where I could leave my luggage after checkout.

EstoniaThat said, the shared bathrooms and kitchen could have been cleaner — not terrible, but definitely in need of more frequent attention.
We stayed at Flóki by Guesthouse for a short stop in Reykjavík. The rooms were surprisingly spacious and comfortable for the price, which was a big plus. The host was very responsive and helpful throughout our stay, and the option to store our luggage after checkout was a great bonus.

SwitzerlandI asked twice to get a gluten free breakfast. My request was taken but every morning I was receiving same croissant and bread :) Not much of sound isolation with a corridor so a lot depend on your neighbors.
It was a nice clean room with a sink inside which made a difference. Outside shower and bathroom were pretty clean too. Breakfast area could be a little bit cozier but really good coffee there!

United KingdomMaybe I'm just not used to it, but because it is very much do-it-yourself (following clear instructions and signs), staff aren't always around. If someone needed guidance it might be tricky to know where to go. When I was there though the staff I saw and the other guests were all friendly and helpful.
Very easy to use, clear instructions, clean, comfortable and modern room and bathroom. Even though it's a shared bathroom there are two for each set of 5 rooms so it's not a problem. You also get your own sink. The kitchen is well equipped with two ovens, a microwave, a dishwasher and a large fridge, and there's a store only 5 minutes' walk away. There's free coffee in the morning too. Breakfast is dropped off at your door first thing if you've ordered it.

United KingdomUnfortunately, there was no breakfast available due to the timing of my trip. It is only available during June, July and August. I hadn't realised this at the time of booking, and was informed only the day before my stay.
The location gives easy access to the town, bars and restaurants. There are also plenty of places to park a car which was great (I have struggled with this in other places in Iceland before). My room was surprisingly comfortable with a good bed, chair, lighting options and a large window.
