Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Switzerland- Very pretty hotel located beautifully in an isolated area on the ring road, only 20 minutes driving away from Jökulsarlon and Diamond Beach - Clean, super comfortable room - The hotel offered a wake up service in case of northern lights - Very good restaurant with nice sea view

BelgiumSome issues with service. For instance, they only clean your room daily if you specifically ask for it at reception, and when they do so they do a very superficial job (for example they don’t hoover the room). And they overcharged me because somebody had put their dinner on my room, which thankfully I noticed before it was too late.
Incredible location. Very nice modern building. Lovely bar and lounge area. Very nice area with sauna and hot tubs.

United StatesPricey dinner and breakfast.
We loved that there was a hotel close to the glacier lagoon and the glacier hiking we wanted to do up by Skaftafell. We loved the outdoor hot tubs and spa area and the robes were fun as we got out of the hot tubs into the cool air. The rooms were comfortable too!

United StatesBreakfast bus-girls : they wander about like a tightly coiled spring with the singular objective of tearing down the buffet at 10:00:01 am. For a nice place there’s no need to jump on the clients like that just to hurry the process … relax! Food is pricey. Very good, but pricey.
Room was great, very comfortable, well appointed. Housekeeping A+. Front desk A+.

SwitzerlandA bit pricey, and a bit isolated, which we expected from the comments.
Superb hotel. Travelling with 2 teens, the rooms were adjacent and with a communicating door. Loved the hot tub and the views from it and the sauna. The dinner was fabulous.

United KingdomThe hotel is super stylish and made me think I was in a film location. It is comfortable, everything you need is provided and the staff were brilliant. Breakfast was excellent and my family made use of the sauna and gym. Whoever had the idea to offer a wake up call for the aurora borealis is a genius. The location is stunning and there is even a waterfall a short walk behind the hotel (see photos).

Ukraine- The hotel is quite expensive but not worth its money. We stayed in few Fosshotels around Iceland and we liked others more. - Classic chain hotel. Too crowdy. It reminded me atmosphere of an airport. - We had Nespresso coffee machine at the room but coffee was not good. - The was no heater or drier in the room so we couldn’t dry our clothes. - Quality of breakfast was not good enough. Some food was cold and there was only basic selection of food.
- Exterior design of the hotel is nice and the hotel is located in nice place with nice views. Unfortunately we had a parking side view. - Room in general was comfortable. Good bed and shower.

United StatesPerfectly located next to the glacier lagoons/diamond beach. I can’t imagine any fosshotel would be a disappointment. Breakfast was amazing. We also had dinner the night before and it was equally amazing. The beds were comfortable. Definitely leave some time to walk over to the waterfall next to the hotel.

United StatesRooms got very hot as it was warm day and can’t open the windows because of the bugs. The fan in the room was broken which they promptly replaced though.
It was an expensive stay but worth it given not many options in that area. Nice restaurant and spa in the hotel.

SwitzerlandIt's quite pricey, but I'd say it's worth the high price, given the superb quality
Location is excellent if you plan to visit the glacier lagoon Jökulsarlon. We arrived around 9pm at the hotel, and it was no problem at all to get a table in the restaurant on short notice and enjoy a lovely dinner with fantastic food. The whole hotel is really stylish, modern, and simply beautiful. Even our "economy double room" was great, much better than expected. The hotel is quite isolated, which makes it absolutely quiet at night. Breakfast buffet the next morning was excellent.
